I am hitting the dyno this weekend with my kit.
Some feedback on the kit: -minor fitment stuff that comes with most turbo kits -Heat in the engine bay is ridiculously high (like all top mounted turbo kits) -Stock wires (or straight plug boot wires in general) will burn thru, so make ones with custom boot ends. I have ceramic coated hotparts, DEI lava wrap and DEI sleeves on the plug wires. The heat just goes thru all of it. -To change the plugs/wires on driver's side, you need to take off the manifold. In order to take off the manifold you need to drop the DP down a little (its stays in the clamp, just loosen it enough to let the DP drop some) -welding and materials seem great -quality parts in the kit (I got the Precision 7675 and turbosmart stuff) -Jon's customer service and promptness to respond is phenomenal Overall I am happy with the kit and the pricing. I will eventually move on to another kit, but only to make more power than this is capable of. I am on the stock shortblock, so this kit will support it no problem. |

Wrapped up my huron turbo kit install last friday. Took it for a spin yesterday without a tune for over an hour. NOT ONE PROBLEM. The car goes in for tuning wednesday morning.
The huron kit is a good kit that gets a bad rep because diy guys attempt a turbo kit install without experience in dealing with turbo heat. I am not going to say im a turbo expert but this is not my first turbo car rodeo and past experiences and friends with boosted cars churns out what i have put together by myself in my garage. There is a great huron turbo kit install thread that covers everything from running plug wires correctly to avoid burning. Heavy emphasis on protecting your air conditioning lines. Heavy emphasis on wrapping the flex portion of the cross pipe to avoid burning your fan lines along with many other things. There are multiple guys who have ran this kit HARD and long for over a year. What seperates them from people who sell their kits immediately after a problem arises? Experience in dealing with heat and turbo This kits requires a installer to have a degree of experience and ingenuity when things possibly go wrong. Dont just buy heat wrap tape and tape things up and expect it to all work fantastic. Take the time to thoroughly execute a clean install with NO touching and clearance issues. I see OP's installed shots and i can already see a burned plug wire. |

I am still enjoying mine. I have put almost 15K miles on mine since March this year. I had a couple of tight fits on mine during install, but I have had no trouble with the kit since install. I wrapped it with the nicer DEI wrap and re-ran new wires around the headers which was extra, but I also attribute my success with a good tuner. I have seen posts on here where the ops are having tuning issues and frustrated with the kit. I don't even know what the HP is on mine, but I chased down a stock ZL1 with my soft launch and came back from at least 1 car length or more behind to win by .7 secs faster. This kit performs great and the BOV sound never gets old. I tested drag radials recently and they stuck like crazy, but the stock clutch could not handle it with an aggressive dump - that's my next mod. My wife got a cool video near the end of the track where it is quieter and the car sounds like a jet engine whizzing by its awesome.
