Ah, why do I even try, go kill yourself in your car for all I care!!

The rubber compound in summer only tires is very soft and pliable. When the temps drop they become hard as a rock! But good luck and God bless you!

You can not use summer only tires in the winter if you have winter, PERIOD! Rain is not a problem if the road temperature is above 40 degrees F.

You will have no control.

Park it or buy winter or all-season tires.

End of story.

Chevrolet really should offer both types of tires when you order.

I know when you order pickups, they come with either a Highway tire or All Terrain tire, but the other type is offered for a minimal fee, and sometimes no charge.

My 2005 GTO had summer 18" Bridgestones on it, and it would just spin on ice, and snow could be very exciting. It actually wasn't too bad on a couple inches of "new" snow, but watch out when it got packed. I have actually had the whole car slide sideways, because of the crown of the road, when starting off gently or braking.

Be careful.

I've seen a few members go with the Yokohama Parada Spec-X all season tire. I know a few other manufacturers will be coming out with the tires for sizes matching the Camaro. That's the biggest problem right now, very few companies have matching front and rear tire sizes right now.

Will 18" wheels/snow tires fit on the SS and still clear the Brembo Brake calipers ?

The Nitto Invo also comes in the sizes we need for the SS. I'm not sure how they handle the colder temps though. Supposed to be great wet or dry.
The temps down here in OK are getting down in the 40s now so I need to get some on order. Just haven't decided which to get yet. If we get ice or snow I have an 07 Chevy 3/4 4x4 to drive. Can't handle parking the Camaro all winter.

Finally someone has tried it and proved the fact that I've been stating from the beginning about driving these cars in the snow. If you can afford a "winter beater" or new snow tires, do yourself a favor and go for it.
Why go through the risk and actually doing damage when it can be avoided all together?!?!

Very smart!!
It's not so much you, you have to worry about. It's the "others" around you.

Dunno if the 20+ are on sale but I got 18" Blizzaks (Which is like flypaper in snow!) for my solstice for 600 total for all 4 from tire rack! All I can say is that the side wall has a minor but more flex than I am used to but I am used to Hoosiers and also Ultraleggras. (I autocross) But daily driving it is awesome! I live on the 3rd steepest hill in pittsburgh (22º slope! over only 350 feet!) and I get up it all the time! My wifes honda has failed! LOLZ!

I can only imagine how much fun it is with 426hp. My little LS1 has been a blast in Chicago winters running summer only tires for 2+ years now. Trying the snow tire route this year... I wouldn't bother driving a new one in the snow without snow tires... just getting started once the black ice hits will be nearly impossible. I know i've seen on here folks are getting sets of wheels and tires all mounted and installed for around $1600 which isn't too bad of an investment.
