On LS7's if you search at the Z06 section of the corvette forum you'll find opinion based on good deductive reasonighn, as well as thousands (literally)who just had to add a reply as they felt led to.
There was an issue in the LS7 (from 2008 till 2009) where the valve guide concentricity were not inspected completely with Chevy going to 100% inspection in 2010. However there are some (more than 50 fewer than 200) LS7's dropped valves..which is a very pricey thing to do as replacement costs are $16,000. at the corvette forum its the single issue that they make sound liek chicken little and the sky is falling. I loved my LS7 (in my C6Z06) so consequently I had it fixed. Believe me I saved enough overbuying new by getting a 3 1/2 year old - 750 mile car - I could have fixed it 13 times over with the difference between new and used.. However Hib Halverson has the be all do all article about the design of the LS7 - "The Ruthless Pursuit of Power the Mystique of the C6 Corvette LS 7 Engine". Hib discusses the dropped valve issue I just mentioned from page 17 or 18 to page 20, along with his recommendations for fixing it. Chevrolet undoubtedly knows the fixes Hib suggests, as those issues have receded and not been an issue since about 11 or'12 in the C6Z06. However just to be on the safe side,, when I got the '15 Z; I did get a 70,000 mile 7 year warranty from GMAC. Here that article is, its the gospel on the LS7: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...te-ls7-engine/
