So in other words, someone should go through the trouble of posting a photo because you are too lazy to do a search?

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

My Mishimoto CAI came with a much more sexy metal plug.
The metal plug was to in the intake tube not the sound tube end right?

How much of a noise reduction does removing the sound tube do? Does it have any adverse side effects?

Yes with emphasis on the intake tube getting capped. Unmetered air is not a good thing.

First off - suzook and I have exchanged ideas in the past and I was just busting on him. = poking fun. If he wants to bust back it is his prerogative, not yours.

You should probably get more than 9 posts under your belt before you designate yourself as thread monitor and assume the responsibility of giving directions to forum members. Are you going to jump in every time a comment is made or a thread goes sideways? If so you are going to be very very busy. .........Now let's leave it at that.

So they're seriously pulling a Mustang and piping sound to the cabin?

Yep. Via a tube that runs from the CAI intake elbow to the firewall.

I think my STi has one, too - but I'll have the aftermarket intake on soon and tackle it at that time. Not sure why manufacturers are doing this now. On the Mustang, I swore it was a big joke by the Ford engineers - the firewall nut was nearly IMPOSSIBLE to access. I spent 2 hours getting it off - 1/4 turn at a time - and the damn thing is like 2 inches long. Most guys don't even bother - they just rip it out of the firewall and leave it broken

Ok, I will get flamed for this so don't shoot the messenger, oh hell, flame me, I don't care.

Here is what one Powertrain engineer said at a tech session when asked about this "feature".....

"Cars are so quiet these days some people can't hear the engine well for shifting when pushing the car, so We pump some sound in for Better feedback"

True story......
