Generally speaking, larger mufflers contain more packing material, which therefore increases their sound dampening ability (less volume) and also makes for a deeper tone. Our signature blend of packing material allows smaller mufflers to still maintain our signature deep sound, but a larger unit will still be more effective in comparison. Our oval units, being the largest, are best for daily driven vehicles, and applications where a moderate tone is desired. The circular units (often referred to as magnapacks, bullets, etc) are for those who prefer exhaust on the aggressive side, and want the car to really scream under throttle. The race mufflers contain minimal packing, and are not recommended as a primary muffler on street cars. Our glasspacks have a couple differences from our standard performance mufflers: they are made of aluminized steel rather than stainless steel, and use single-stage stainless steel packing for a more raspy tone. Their use is primarily geared towards street rods and some classic muscle cars because of the unique sound. They can be used on late model cars, but tend to not sound quite "right" because of the significant difference in engine characteristics. The catalytic converters we offer for the LFX are intended to be a direct replacement for the OEM units, and are not marketed as a performance product. We hope this answers most of your questions, but please feel free to PM us if there's anything else you would like to know! |
