I don't remember what they told us, but with them using it at airports for landing strip lights they have to last a long time. Thats not something you want to go out. If you have ever seen The Cash Cab game show its the same thing that they used in the headliner. Also when they first started making the product they would do burn outs on the tape to prove durability. I'm still working out a few details. What I am trying to put together is a complete kit ready to install. Total install was only 45 minutes after the trim piece edge was sanded. With sanding it took 2 hours total. I was being real careful when I sanded the pieces I am a little anal about my car. Wanted it perfect. I still have a couple more things I want to try so that it will be even easier. Let you know as it progresses.

That looks way cool. You may be onto something there, if there was a way to dim the light tape, then you'd be in business! I like the way it lights up top and bottom too!

But dont quit your day job man, your picture taking skills leave alot to be desired! (Im just messin with ya)

Looks good! Thanks for posting it up!

Looks good. If you're going to do detailed instructions though, get a tripod for those night shots, and some of the day ones as well.

Pretty impressive stuff. Looks like it comes in a few colors, not how close it matches the IOM red/orange though:

Good start man A couple of observations...

Is there anyway to install a dimmer rheostat in line after the transformer? Kind of thinking that you set it for brightness intensity with door lighting. Once set... you button it up and forget it.

I noticed on the front ABL that the light strip "bled" through to the lower half of the trim piece probably due to the light intensity. Perhaps there is a way to "Tape off" the lower half of the Trim piece to prevent this.

Just a couple of things that might need to be addressed. Again this type of innovation is what keeps me coming back

The light isn't bleeding through the bottom it is actually traveling through the clear front. The light will follow the clear path until it finds a place to escape. The problem with the dimming is the transformer provides the exact electrical current to light the tape up if you try to bring that down the light cuts off. The main reason I went this route is I don't have to cut or trim anything on my dash. Saw the boo boo's on the other thread and wanted to do it in a way no trimming was involved. I love the way it looks so much I plan on doing the doors this way as well. It is brighter than the factory but it is not distracting in any way. Its not like looking into an led. It doesn't blind you. We were out with a bunch of Camaro5 guys last night and they all loved it. Looks great in person. I am trying to get in touch with the light tape guys to find out if there are some dimming options. But as of right now I don't think there is. I f you have any questions for me please let me know.

This is great, and looks like the original photo of what the ambient lighting was actually supposed to look like

My only concern is brightness... Is it too distracting at night? Seems like it is quite a bit brighter than the doors, so I'm just curious.

Definitely looks great though!!
