As much as I wish it was the SS, I am guessing it will be the Z.
The only reason I hope the SS is top dog is so I can get my hands on the Z28. I don't think I can put down 45k. |

I believe the Z will rise to take the throne as “TOP DOG”… It's hard for me to say it because I grew up believing the SS to be the "TOP DOG" but we wont go their...

I don't know what to vote for. I think it will be Z28, I hope it is SS, and I've always said that it would be awesome to see the ZL1 make a return.

I like to see the Z/28 as the standard production top model with a few more units than the GT500. And the ZL1 come in later as a very limited model with production number near the GT500KR
LSA in the Z/28 LS9 in the LS9 with carbon fiber panels, bigger brakes, CTS-V like suspension (prolly a good reason to make it limited production) When I try to rationize GM decision in my head, I never find myself looking at 3rd or 4th gens and rarely 2nd gens. I seem to focus on the 1st gen. All power numbers aside, I look at the production numbers of the legendary badged cars from the 1st gen era. The Z/28 was more limited than the SS, and the ZL1 was far more limited than the Z/28. With that in mind, comes my opinion on what the top models should be. When I go to car shows and see any Camaro below the 69 model year, Im virtually sure to see a SS. Why? Because it was common. Regardless if it had a 350 or 396 its a SS. Only one car can be the Z/28. As of now FRPP (ford racing performance parts) offers a Whipple supercharger for the Mustang GT and be installed at the dealer. With lighter weight, FRPP parts to make it out handle, and beat out the GT500 in power to weight ratio; a Mustang GT (although its rare to see someone blow there money like that at dealership on a Mustang GT) could over come the GT500. With that in mind, a 396 SS could over come a Z/28 of the same year but it wasnt as common as 350 or otherwise in SS form. So again, power output is only a part of the equation. Just like Z/28 from back in the day versus the SS badge, A LSA 550hp powered "Z/28" would be worth more in resale value and collector value year later than a LS3 powered SS with a Magnacharger with 600hp. As for the ZL1 badge thats a hands down. But I dont think the name should be water down with standard production numbers. The original COPO car was very limited, and the new one should be the same if it is ever made. Also it should have the equipment to demand superiority in the Camaro lineup, LSA is nice; but the LS9 is the touch it needs and perfect if its a low production volume car.......much like the ZR1. I would expect its rarity to be near that of the Cobra Rs and GT500KR. This would make it hold up to the iconic badge as it is. Say what ever but this is the information from the first gen era: 1967 RS: 64,842 SS: 34,411 Z28: 602 Total: 220,906 1968 RS: 40,977 SS: 27,884 Z28: 7,199 Total: 235,147 1969 RS: 37,773 SS: 34,932 Z28: 20,302 Total: 243,085 The rating is what the General says and the General decides the top dog. Real world performance can be different. Example: a 4th gen stripper car is faster than a fully optioned SS. But the General still says the SS is tops.
