What both of those cars are missing is the pull cord... that will really finish it off.

The concept tail lights are shorter and wider given them more of an edgy appearance, not to mention they have that afterburner lighting thing going on. The placement of the brake lights still doesn't bother me as much as that indention they added to the bottom of it (I can't imagine why they did).

Even if they aren't the finished product, it's unlikely the tail lights will be all that different than what we see on that silver prototype. Emulating the lighting of the concept tail lights (which is what differentiates them the most) for a mass-produced car is not feasible for building cost.

what about an option or styling package for extra money that includes concept like taillights?

i guess maybe an aftermarket company will try to come out with concept parts

all i'm saying gm is that its all in the minor details...if you get the tailights right and get rid of that bump in the bottom...then bam...you got a production car that is indistinguishable from the concept

come on gm YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Yes, that's sensible. We're all pretty sure as it is that the halo headlamps from the concept would be potentially available as an option, but then again, how often do tail light options come up? The only thing they'd be able to change is the lighting to match the concept's, since the size would require an entirely different rear end.

Overall, if this is all we can find wrong, then I say we're doing pretty good.

Tail light differences - mostly due to cost and government regulations.
Bumper cover - I'm again sure that has something to due with the 5 mph or whatever is now government mandated crash requirements.
Reverse lights - guess who? Government again.
Mirrors - yep more of the same.
Side marker lights - again same song and dance.

90% of the changes we are seeing can be attributed to some regulation our goverment mandated.

I think we as a group need to "get over" what's different and appreciate how close this car is to the concept. Enjoy the 300 or 400 or 500 hp. Enjoy the incredible looks. Enjoy the class leading performance. Enjoy the "bang for the buck".

Everyone involved with this car's development needs a big round of applause from all of us!

Sorry I'm just sick of reading threads about why is this different, why is that different. Nothing personal to those that voice their opinions. We are all entitled to them.

i hate government constantly over-regulating and implementing a nanny state

the small lip in the back i'm certain can be fixed with an aftermarket rear screw government regulations...and the hell with enviornmentalist marxists...

Is that not what was said about the Halo headlights? That GM could never put those lights on an inexpensive vehicle, after all, only BMW's have those lights!..........but how did that turn out?

Well, I don't think anyone here actually owns a new camaro with Halos, so there's still time for that to NOT happen.

I, for one, would like to see something more like the concepts tail lights as the ones on the silver SS are kinda plain-jane.

I don't see the concept pic here...but, didn't fbodfather say that the concept pic was taken with a wide angle lens (which may distort the actual angles)...

Yeah, I find it kind of ass-backwards that they are so stringent on vehicular design regulations when our government in general is a backstabbing two-timer.

You are probably in the wrong place. This is a forum specifically for picking nits about why this is different, why that is different...

Nope, I'm in the right place.

All I was trying to say is that they (GM) are doing the best they can. I honestly believe that. If they could mass produce a car that looked IDENTICAL to the concept...they would..period. What got me was that I think the production rear and concept rear look almost identical.

Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I truly respect that. I know I have my own opinions and sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong.

Personally I'm very pleased with what we've seen to date. At this point I'm much more interested in motors, exhaust note, performance numbers, colors, did I say motors? And of course since I'm not Donald Trump, I'm very interested in pricing.

I also hope that enough people buy a 5th gen so someday we'll see a 6th gen.
