I haven't ever like a car this long. and trust me i have liked plenty of cars. Also I dont have any bills at all. I am on parents phone plan, am living at home, and IF i get on the place I want they pay for all your schooling. (because I plan on going to school next year). I just wanted to get the Camaro before all the muscle cars are replaced by electric junk. I guess I will just have to see what happens.
I don't think anyone on this board is ever really flaming any 18 year olds that want this car. The sad truth is we were all 18 and very mature for our age. We knew more than any real adult. At least in our minds. In reality we look back and realize how incredibly stupid and ignorant we really were. So just like your parents we just don't want you to make the same mistakes we did whether it be stupid driving or running ourselves into big debts. So we say our bits on why you shouldn't do certain things. You'll probably do the same as us anyway and when you get older you'll be saying the same things to some other "kid". Yes there are exceptions to this. Just try to be smart instead of impulsive about it. Good luck with whatever you do "kid"

sure im almost 20 and not much older, but believe it or not there are those of us youngins that are imensely more mature than those that are almost or are in there 30s.
If "youngins" were more like you, than your insurance would be lower (all of ours would be...) A need for a co-signer would not be required. The simple reason why "youngins" get the shaft so to speak is its proven they are irresponsible... a high risk... and their decisions are as misguided as this one. Look at this post for example...This kid wants to spend over 60% of his income on transportation!!! with the Hope (notice no set plan....live for the moment) that he can afford it for the next 60 months or what ever the loan term may be.

Its a scientific fact that the brain is still developing at 18...... and we are witnessing this first hand.

although I dont personally care what car you drive...whether 18 or 16 or 50...at $2000 a month in general you can't afford the car.

so without a strong down pay to get your payments to a much lower point OR having someone else make the payments for you, you should wait

What a great generation. No thoughts of waiting until you can afford something....just get now and deal with the consequences later...no wait, make is seem like it's someone else's fault when you can't afford it anymore. On $2,000 per month, why don't you look into getting a $500,000 house, too. You're going to need a garage for your Camaro. As a general rule of thumb, don't drive a car that costs more than you make in a year. Or maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones and Obama will buy it for you.

Come on man really? You get on here and have to ask strangers what to do... Don't be retarded. Think about this..
Ok so your out in the "Camaro" pick up a girl... You talk to her for awhile then you date or whatever.. She wants to go somewhere nice in your "Camaro" but you can't do anything or go anywhere cuz your broke. Look man i know this car is awesome and lots of people want it, but really you have plenty of time to get it. Don't rush! Get a good stable job. Go to school, and don't try to keep up with the Jones..... Also you might want to save and get the 2SS if your gonna get one... You will always want it anyways.... Save your money! America has lost 7.2 million jobs since 2007... So with that you should think more about surviving than driving a new Camaro.... Just some advice from a guy who did the same thing when he was young...

I'd save up more of the downpayment if I were you. You don't want 60to70 percent of your income going towards a car and insurance and gas. What if you don't make as much, or pay gets cut in this rough economy.

I'm not trying to convince you buying it is wrong but I'm saying be smart and save up more of your money and get the note down to 250to300 a month at the least. It's gonna take discipline n budgeting on your part but better learn now then when you get the car.

I'm a few years older than you and I say save up till you get the note down lower and if you hold out you can probably find one used in the fall at a really good price and won't take that new car hit in value drop.

How about you get a 4th gen F-body? They will satisfy your need for something sporty until you have steady income and they can be had for a steal right now. I saw a late model Formula around here for like 5 or 6K.

Hmmm. You have a point although you make it in a manner that will not do any good but to piss people off. Giving the kid some advice is great but flaming him like you have does not teach a damn thing does it???

To the OP.... I would suggest the same as a couple others have. Get into a 00-02 F-body. They are great cars. I just sold a prestine 02 with 30k miles on it for 15g and that was right before the new camaro was available. Now I see them even with low miles for under 10g. Think about how much money you would have left over to do things to your car.... Take the ladies out.... Hell or even eliviate some of the stress from your parents on having to foot the bill for things besides your car and Insurance. I am sure they will be really grateful. The point is in a years time there will be something even better out or a better optioned out camaro that you could get. So just drive a great f body around for a year or 2 adn save the money up and then you can drop a wad of cash at the dealers feet. Who knows if you save right you could prob get a z28 model instead of the V6.

Wait and put together a comfortable life for yourself and then buy a new car. I know thats hard to underatand at 18 but, believe me I was there and hindsight is always 20/20.
