I think the cams are about a grand. There have been lots of bad reviews on the Mace cams. That's why I bumped up Wills 80 mm tb thread on the LFX. There hasn't been a lot of luck tuning them. Trying to see if Derek can get Will to bring up tuning the Mace set up and has he had much luck with it.

I spent 1200 for cams and springs. I got the springs to help with boost at very high RPM. The key part though is to not be afraid to go past 7000 rpm, these engines live for high rpm.
I have discovered one problem with the LLT tuning, after a set time over 7300 RPM'S the cam timing shuts off, putting it back to idle position until it goes below 7300. Not a big deal if shifting at 7500 since it's in the middle of the shift, but if I ever push it to 7800 it will be. Trying to figure out if it's an engine over speed condition I'm hitting. For the E85 gas part, I have no reason to switch to it. I run more timing than the E85 tunes with just 91 octane. Trick is to know when to start the fuel injection for max cooling. |

Went to the track on Friday with no supercharger but still had my meth tank and intercooler installed (but not hooked up). Needless to say, the car was very heavy. Only ran a 13.6, best 60' time was 1.9. Biggest problem I have right now is my IAT's at launch are over 140 degrees when the ambient temp was 50, my ignition timing had 5 degrees removed from it. I am reading the IAT from the MAF sensor instead of my secondary sensor inside the intake manifold, so I'm going to make that mod next. I ran about what I thought I would though based on my wife's Mustang V6 times and acceleration data. I was crossing the traps at 7400 RPM and lets just say the engine was SCREAMING. I moved the intake cams one way and lost speed but didn't have time to move them again and race. Car was also lazily taking off then started really pulling after 5000 RPM, so there is quite a bit of cam tuning left.
Sad part was, my wife's Mustang V6 with only headers, converter, gears, and tune was running 13.2, and the tune was soft since she hadn't been to the track in 1.5 years. I had full torque management on the car since without it the front end wants to bounce up and down. Once she gets her 60' time down from 2.1 it will be in the 12's. Video of the best run, it held together revving out that high, now its time to do the full cam sweep and add timing. |

It is taking a while going through all these cam settings I can use and comparing data. I finally got the car to not hesitate when accelerating off of idle but it lopes now since I had to get the exhaust cam to open later to make use of the power. I still have a dead spot around 3000 to 5000 RPM then the car starts to take off so I need to mess around with that area more.

Haven't been working on top end, just trying to get below 5000 rpm to not be so laggy.

Found the limits of my little air filter I have on the car, I now have a vacuum at WOT. With stock cams it never happened so that means I'm pulling in a lot of air in through the exhaust overlap. Getting closer and closer to really getting the power out of them.

Not on NA setup, I've been working with them on my supercharger setup and I've got the low end part figured out, I was way off on the cam timing. After I make a run at the track with my supercharger and it doesn't blow up, I'll be testing it NA to see how it runs.
