the 12V is only turning on the camera when your in reverse when you select the camera when not in reverse your not turning the camera on.. the 12v from the reverse light or pac unit is a 12v trigger not a 12v source

Makes sense. So how do I fix it? Am I supposed to connect the red wire hanging off the yellow RCA up to another wire from the PAC unit?

thats a preference .. if your camera doesn't have an LED than you can run the red wire from the camera to a 12v switch source IE: red wire on your Radio harness that means the camera will be on when the car is on so when you hit the camera button you will see it and then when you put in reverse your still getting the trigger from reverse lights and tell the radio to show reverse camera.. if your camera does have an LED than you would have to wire in a switch

What about the red wire that hangs off of the yellow RCA? Could I wire that to the red wire on my radio harness? Because the red wire from the camera is only long enough to reach my tail light wiring

I am confused. On a normal aftermarket radio there should be a reverse wire. You use a rca with wire attached, or run a seperate wire with a rca. My sony, I ran a single wire to my reverse light postive and plugged the rca into the reverse rca on back of cam and stereo. Now, my backup cam also powered, so at tail lights I connected the pos wire from my cam to a pos running light wire. All camera systems should be same. Also, reverse cams usually don't work in camera view unless the cars in reverse, that view is usually for another cam.
