Never said hex vents are better, but I can see the heat escape right above my Supercharger where the vents are, so that heat is not under the hood. Superchargers are heat magnets so that is why I chose the hex vents as they vent the heat right above the sc lid...

I remove the beauty cover and the strut bar - lots of venting going on there...

I believe the ZL1 vent was also to prevent upforce/lift and increase downforce in addition to evacuating heat...

If you remove the seal at the back of the hood area in front of the wipers, that will also reduce the underhood temps too... the CTSV folks do that...

I went with the ACS TL1, I love the look of it and it actually helps with your AC effency too. A side benefit.

hammdo, do you drive in the rain with the vents open like that?

I ask because I was talking with another guy who said he also doesn't use a rain guard and he has no issues. He is using the OEM 2014 vent on his 2010/2011.

I was under the assumption that not using a rain guard would let too much water in for the engine.

I had the ACS TL1 insert before I upgraded to the OEM ZL1 hood.

My vote ACS all the way.

...so you spent money on both. What triggered you to go OEM ZL1 hood?

Yes, and I've had no issues. I do have the drip trays, but took them off to help underhood temps. I can always put the trays back in if need be...

I have the Hex Vents as well. I have never had the drip trays installed, and my car is a daily driver. As far as to much water for the engine, unless you are submerging the intake or hosing it down with a fire hose, no amount of rain or water coming through those hex vents is going to cause you any issue. I pressure wash my engine regularly with no ill effects.

A happy engine is a clean engine, free from dirt, grime, oils, etc.!!

I like the appearance of both options, but for me, the Hex Vents won.

OEM ZL1 hood painted black w/ ECF insert at a great price, this allowed me to complete my conversion so all of my parts are OEM ZL1.

I sold the hood w./ TL1 insert and made some good $$ on it.

So you can use one of the aftermarket ZL1 style inserts on a ZL1 hood? This would reduce the cost of getting a ZL1 hood SIGNIFICANTLY if so.

Yes ACS offers a ZL1 insert for the OEM ZL1 hood sure beats $3500+ from the dealership for the insert.
