Or, it will be an electric motor(s) All wheel drive all wheel steer like the Tesla with 1500 hp and Zero to 60 in 1.345123456 seconds, approximately. It will come with a neck brace.

Cars are made to enjoy in their time. To just bottle up a machine is kind of pointless. It happens but it's rare. When time passes and the rare units are exposed it can be intriguing. Drive them, enjoy them and invest in stocks and bonds for making money.

The cars that become collectable and worth $$ are unexpected. Do any of you think the 5th Gen ZL1 is getting better with age? How about jumping over to a C5 Z06? Those things are 15 years old. Do you think in 15 years (that magical point of 30+ years) they will be bringing in big bucks? I seriously doubt it.

If you bought a ZL1 to possibly make money someday...well...hmmm...if the Z28 and GT500 exist and are successful, plus whatever fast cars come out after that...it's just going to hurt the value even more :( Just drive the car and enjoy it...no use saving the car for someone else |

I didn't buy the car for the next owner. Cars are a horrible investments, I can do way better in the markets.

Doubtful.
Buy the car you want and enjoy it. As others have said, tomorrow is not guaranteed. There will come a time in the not too distant future will technology will remove the need or allowance of driving. Just ask all the horse owners, elevator operators, phone operators, toll booth attendants, etc. Automation is creeping ever further out and ICE is in decline. Enjoy it all while it is still around to enjoy. |

ZL1s. ZR1s, GT500 Super Snakes, etc. What will any of them be worth when the fuel to operate them on is nearly nonresistant or ridiculously expensive. Neighborhood gas stations will be a memory in 40 or 50 years.

Yes, give it 100 years and it will be worth $1000 more than what you paid for it now. Just remember to not drive it. Let it sit. Needs to be under 1000 miles.

I don't think so. The cars of the past that are fetching big bucks are the rare ones. The ones from back in the day when you could pick any option you want and they would build it exactly how you want it. Example my old man ordered a 69 442 W-30 with a color that wasn't even offered on the 442 in 1969. Or say X car was only 1 of 40 or so ordered in this color with this option. It's stuff like that that make the old cars worth big bucks.
Plus that I hate to say it in 40 or so years it would be people my age that would be spending big bucks on cars and I fear people my age don't care enough about cars lol. Who is spending the big bucks on those classics now, the baby boomers. I don't think millenials will be spending big bucks on "classic" cars |

For a classic to be worth a lot, you have to have a few things...
1) Car Enthusiasts 2) People with disposable income 3) An economy that doesn't make people fearful of the future. I can't speak to the last two in the 20 or 50 years, but we are looking at the future for item 1 right now. Just look at your kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. To me, it seems like less of the future generation are car enthusiasts. So who will buy the cars? I think it might be a buyers market in the future with more sellers than buyers.
