I technically told the dealership I was going to demod the car before they got it, but didn't have time, so I just sold it to them as is. They then flipped out stating they wanted it demoded. You would think they could flash it back but I'm not sure that is going to go too well. The paperwork I received doesn't state I must remove the parts but it was verbally stated.

Tell the dealership the same thing they would tell you if the roles were reversed..."you bought the car as is...where is, deal with it."

I agree...partially.

But think of when you bought your SS. How would you feel, getting your 'new to you' SS, having all sorts of mod plans and then having to deal with someone else's dyno tune already on the car...which doesn't match the parts that are installed.

I am not trying to play the morality game here. I have just done enough stupid shit in my 42 years to realize that there really may be some truth to the saying 'Karma is a bitch'.

I am wondering about telling them they bought it. I don't know if they can hold it against me or not since I told them I would demod it and I didn't actually do it. Again, it doesn't state I must demod it on the paperwork, but...

I wouldn't think there would be any lemon law or anything over a CEL for an o2 sensor!

The guys in the service dept are the ones you need to talk to. The guys up front are money guys, the ones out back are car guys. Pull the parts, give them to me, and the dealer can get their service dept to flash a factory tune back in 10 minutes. Everyon'se happy- especially me!

I am not trying to make life harder for you man, I swear lol.

How much time do you have to figure this out? If it is not a stipulation to complete the sale, and you don't mind taking the loss and giving them the headers & CAI , that may be the easiest route to take.

Gringo, "How do you know it has 800hp"

I bought the car from a dealer in Indiana. He claimed it had 800hp and it was built by AC Performance. Obviously it's really easy to claim something like that...

So, I called and spoke to A&C Performance to confirm. This car was the owner's personal car that he built. He confirmed the car was originally his and what he had done to it. He still uses the car to advertise the 800+HP package on his website...

I agree 100%. I meant after he'd pulled the parts the dealer can flash it back.

I have this weekend to get the parts switched out. After that I don't know how much time I could get.

Cool...the car definitely sounds like a beast. Be careful with it.

Yea, that makes sense. Once they get the car without the headers/CAI, if it is still throwing a CEL the diagnostic machine will reveal the tune.

By then, he has his ZL1 and the deal is done.

Oh man, that is awesome. Buying a heavily modded used car and knowing exactly what was done to it is a great thing. No guessing for when you want to do more to it or run into issues.

Dealers love to get over on the public. Sounds like you got a chance to serve them some karma.

Following thru on your word to a person or dealership is the same thing. Ignore the guys that would stiff the dealer. They may be willing to flash the ECM for you. But remember, you gave your word to get it back to stock, so it's on you to make it work right.

In my humble opinion, mods are over rated. This is a good case of why.
