Gotta agree with everyone else, that was good character of him to own up to his mistake and come find you. Sorry to hear though, that sucks

The most important thing is that he sought you out, apologized and provided his information.

Prior to my Camaro, I had bought an '08 Wrangler 4-door (33" BFG's, 4" lift, solid steel bumpers front and rear, steel cow-pusher molded into the front, etc., etc..). My wife and a few friends took it out for dinner and some drinks. There is a bowling alley behind the place we were hanging out. Later in the evening, the DJ announces, "Who has a jacked-up black Jeep?". Of course it was me. Here, a kid (~17-18) that was bowling, backed into my front bumper in the only vulnerable place on the entire rig. Two plastic, box-type fog light covers that protruded out from the bumper. One was smashed to pieces. The kid called his Dad and they tracked me down inside of the bar. It sucked, but good people do exist. BTW, the Jeep only had 500 miles on it at the time.

I'm sure it ruined your dinner to see your car like that, but what that man did was admirable. HOWEVER, in the future, to avoid having your dinner ruined, you need to park WAY away from the pack. I realize that some restaurants are going to be crowded, but me, I'd walk a mile to find a spot in a vacant area. Or, if you know the parking is going to be crowded, leave the Camaro home and take the banger. Festivals and such there's no way I'm driving the Camaro. As much I love to, some areas are too risky.

The guy that hit your car is a good guy that made a mistake. We have all done that. That man deserves a catch can!

My wife thinks I'm anal because I always park way back in parking lots as far away from other cars as I can. I don't mind walking.

Its good that he told you. Accidents happen.
Here in my state though, its the owners insurance that would have to cover it. The other guy could possibly be made to pay the deductible but it would be on the car owners own insurance to pay for the repair.
And if you do make an insurance claim it will likely show on a car fax.

Really sucks! Sorry to hear :(

You got lucky.

Most folks would have never told you and just drove off.

Honest man there. Teaching his kid a good lesson, too.

Great story we all like to think there are still decent people out there. My daughter goes to a local university and she was hit in the parking deck while in class. The young man left his name and number with the attendant. I handled for my daughter and called and got the young man's father who bent over backwards to get her car fixed and even offered to pay for a rental!! He and his son are a class act!
We chatted at the body shop and found out he and his son both loved golf, my wife had the idea to send them a gift certificate for a round of golf for both of them for being such great people. We got a very nice thank you from them for being understanding. It did alot to restore my faith in my fellow humans.

What great story and lesson for the kid. In twenty years, the car will be recycled into frying pans or something. But that kid will be a dad teaching his kid right from wrong.
