For 10 minutes of time for application/removal, I get ease of cleaning on future maintenance washes because bugs don't stick, increased visibility in rain, and prevention of ice build up in the winter so I don't have to scrape the windshield.

I cleaned, clayed and put a layer of Adam's Buttery Wax on the windshield. It came out great!
PS I never doubted it, I just didn't feel I needed the extra step.

I use the damp micro fiber cloth that I wiped my car with after washing. Then a dry cloth to remove the moisture both inside and out. I've never used window cleaner on a car.
