The days of a COPO car are dead. Unless your Jay Leno. How about a camaro with a tuned durmax. Now that would be different!

I am just sick of seeing BLOWERS on everything!!!! What happened to real car builders? Like the Mallett Corvettes. 396 packages, Hammer Editions with C5R blocks built by real car guys! These were guys that were inavators much like Don Yenko and Joel Rosen. The rest of these guys are just blot on guys. Jut my two cents. Jeff

All of our Stage III Super Camaros start with a 427ci LS7 based engine.

Then you have several options;

Naturally Aspirated

Super Charged

Twin Turbos

Why don't you ask the guys who actually built the Super Cars back in the '60s-'70s who still work with us what they think? You can talk to them in person at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals this November 21st and 22nd!
HOLY MOLY!!!
How many horses would a twin turbo LS7 427 put out?! YIKESS!!!!!

Our 427s start at 550hp and can go beyond 1,000hp with the TT version.

On the Yenko prototype, the block & heads were powder coated while the water pump was painted...Chevrolet Orange, of course. On the Nickey car, it got the same treatment, except in yellow, reminiscent of the Nickey cars of the '60s.

With this said, I feel that the new 2010 Yenko Camaro is not the way that Don would have built a 2010 YENKO SC/Camaro. The original 1969 Camaro's were COPO cars from the factory. They were base Camaro's with cast iron 427's and heavy duty transmission's and heavy duty rear ends. This prototype Yenko thay are showing at SEMA is sad display of an Iconic car of yesterday. In my personal opionion I would have liked to see a base apearing 2010 Camaro with a LS7 power plant "427" replace the original yellow bowtie with a blue one "Via 69." I would have liked to see wheels that looked more like the original Atlas wheels that were originally offered on Yenko's. I would have also liked to see some type of special Stewert Warner Green light gauges. The paste on ground effects look terrible! These are just my thoughts and I look forward to seeing what everyone else thinks. Here are a few Yenko pictures. Jeff
I hate to say it but who are you or us to say what the Yenkos would have done to build a 2010???

1969 came and went long ago and its not a matter of just bolting in a new engine where the worst problems you had were does the hood clear it and are the engine mounts in the right spot.

These days they have 3 engine choices besides the base LS3 (LSA, LS7 and LS9) And they don't just bolt up and work, a lot has to be done to get them going. A lot more people need to be involved, and a lot more things like programming needs to be done. And special Stewart Warner Gauges?? The cost and R&D that would need to be put into building a new gauge package to replace the electronic factory ones for a special limited production car would be astronomical.

You see the Nickey Post above, I'd say thats no small effort, they aren't just throwing stickers on and calling it a Yenko, it looks like a ton of work was involved. There is no such thing as a COPO car anymore, and while yes they could replace the V8 fascia with a V6 that would be probably a decent amount of added cost, for what to make the car less aggressive? The huge stripes took care of that, you would just be playing a game with what the car truly is.

I have seen the Nickey car at Gingerman and that is one nice piece of work 700 plus hp and it had no turbos or super charger.I doubt that a 1969 700hp big block car will set in traffic for two hours with the air on and not over heat on a hot summer day. These new cars are amazing not to mention they meet federal crash and epa standards.

I am not a Yenko expert, but I did meet Mr. Yenko's daughter in Chicago this weekend at a car show. She is pleased with what they are doing with the new Yenko built by Nickey. That is good enough for me.

Seeing the way the old building looks now compared to it's heyday is so sad. It's a shame it couldn't be restored and used as a museum or a tribute shop to the Yenko family.

I will be the first to admit there is no way to know for sure what Don Yenko would have done with the new Camaro.

But I can say that Don's oldest daughter Lynn has always been a gearhead, grew up working part time at the dealertship, and is excited about the sYc/Nickey Chicago 2010 Yenko/SC 427 Camaro. As been mentioned previously, she was at the recent MCACN show, to see the car in person. I apoligize for the poor quality of the photo, but I think her smile says it all.
