I don't want to cause trouble but just try to calm the waters over some of the misconceptions about Concept VS Production cars, believe me all those complaining about how the Production Camaro varies from the Concept would be very unhappy with owning an exact replica of the concept car. Be happy they are making it. And as one that has never kept any car as it came from the factory I agree with my son the Aftermarket is your friend. Make your Camaro stand out.

This is a reason why I'm sorta happy I can't get it for a few years, it will give time for some mistakes to be fixed. However if they retrostyled interior gets removed in that time. Then I tell you this GM, they you are looking at one angry Viking.

Don't make horrible commercials that include "american Revolution"! Chevy hasn't had good commercials latly in my opinion. Let the car speak for itself. No one ever has to talk for them to be effective. Just show the car driving!

I have not been around much because I've been watching gas hit ridiculus numbers and with fat cat oil boss's saying it will never go under $100 it made think (I still do in a way) that I simply can't afford to pay for the gas for this car.
GM, you did a GREAT job bringing the beast that I fell in love with in Transformers the movie to almost reality. The minor things that are different are just that, minor and the spirit of the car is still there even to production. People really need to give you all a a round of applause because this is as near concept as could be expected. Like most, we still don't have details so what can we really suggest? One main complaint, and I understanding you were working hard to get it right, is that you did lose at least one customer due to the wait (my brother) and probably lost more due to the LONG wait. NOTE: But he got a lease, so who knows...lol, wink Anyway, I have much respect for you all (I love Lutz) and your company has really been doing great lately while still in danger sadly because of the rise in fuel prices + the horrid economy. With all that said, I hope you realize that weight is the enemy and your lovely Camaro can not be a gas hog if you want it to sell in the numbers to make all your hard work worth it. I for one refused to consider a V6 Camaro, but now because of gas...I might be out of the picture completely while I still hold out hope for the V6 as sad as I am to admit I probably can't afford the V8 beast I wanted. Is there even a solution...did the Camaro just end up coming out at the wrong time? Anyway, I don't want to rain on the joy that I know so many of you have right now. It's almost hear (the details) and I hope you all enjoy it greatly. I'm just bummed that I just don't see this car in my future...basically, I feel like the gas prices has nurtured my sports car nuts...

^Exactly, that's why I don't want to make any decisions just yet...I'm still hoping the Camaro will have pretty good fuel economy considering it will be lighter than the Caddy that has the DI 3.6 V6 which makes 16/25mpg per the new EPA numbers (which personally I don't like much). I'd expect something 2mpg better or so with a car much lighter.
My RX8 is listed under the NEW EPA numbers as getting 16/22mpg and I personally have NEVER gotten less than 18.6mpg in 100% city and 23.8mpg in 90% highway. In my previous cars I've always been able to beat the EP #'s (OLD EPA) by 1-2mpg so I know I can pull out higher numbers than what they will list the new Camaro as. My worry, is that the V6 will look "punked" down compared to the SS, handle worse, and break poorly. BUT, I think GM knows the V6 will be the main seller and it needs to be a very good overall performer. I wonder what cylinder deactivation will do for the V8 in regards to fuel economy? Does the V6 have it also? For my new job I'm driving about 60 miles a day so I really need a car that can hit at least high 20's on the highway. My RX8 get's pretty good 19mpg city, but highway is only about 23-24 which stinks. I bet the Camaro can beat that highway number, so I still have hope, but it needs to be significantly higher than what I get in my RX8. Regardless what happens with me, the Camaro looks great and I hope you all enjoy the heck out of it. Maybe....just maybe, I'll enjoy it also.

LOL, heck...if it's near 30 as you said I'd sacrifice 1-2mpg and stick a Turbo/SC on that thing to get near V8 power.
Oh...the dreaming....

Don't give up yet! Look at the counter on top of the page. You'll be getting more information soon. I have a feeling the government is going to jump in and somehow (I don't know how) make the prices more like they were; look at what the stock market is starting to do... Hang in there though. I couldn't afford to drive the car I'm hoping to get in a few years daily, and am planning to just make it a weekend car. Maybe that could be an option for you

I wouldn't worry too much about the looks of the V6 or the handling, I am sure Chevy will make any model Camaro handle well. I am sure also they will make a sport option on the Base Car that will have upgraded suspension/ wheels and tires... I know Saturn has a dealer installed option to bring the Base Sky's suspension up to the same as a Sky Redline. Same with a CAI and Catback exhaust.

I honestly don't see how one could want to know how they did good and bad on this concept to reality vehicle. IT"S NOT OUT YET.
Give it a few days and when it's released, THEN ask what you like versus dislike. Shoot...we still don't even know when it's going to be released. |

I think the V8 engine needs to get 28 MPG on the highway with AFM and an uber high 6th gear, the V6 needs to get around 30, and 20 in the city would be nice. An XFE model would be great but it would be hard to do so without diluting the Camaro.
