Im not convinced a Duramax will pull 6,000 lbs faster then a Regular Cab 5.3. I have owned both and pulling the same load the regular cab feels faster. It will be faster once the super charger is on it.

I don't think I will ever understand the current craze of rolling coal in a big ass slow truck.
In Southern California, you see those modded lowered short cab short bed Silverados, Rams all over actually. Power, with lighter wheel and short wheelbase makes em fun.

Should have went with the Z71 package. I went for a Tow Pig big brother to my Z28. ‘16 3500, Duramax with a 5” Cognito Lift and some American Force Y spoke wheels that are similar but still super strong.

I have thought about it many times. I even went as far as to buy a 2004 regular cab to build. The truck had to much rust and was not worth fixing. I looked for another for a while and really thought about it. I don't want to do the swap and I cannot find a shop I trust. In the end I decided to invest the money and just finance a new truck at a lower interest.

I still really want to put that engine in one.

There isn't one in America. Not with the integrated trailer brake controller. Honestly my 2015 was a Z71. Since I am lowering mine I see no reason for any of the Z71 changes. I don't feel they are upgrades.

The truck I bought was the highest optioned Regular Cab in the US in black. There is a Charcoal one that has the cocoa interior but it isn't black.

:( no.... I am going to try to figure something out for that. Perhaps I can change the trailer to 5x4.75 and then I can get replicas for it. Trust me... I am darn sure going to try.

Awesome truck. Can't wait to see the wheels and colour matched stripes.

Honestly we have no trucks like that in the UK. Were you to drive that over here you'd probably get more attention than I do in the Z28! Which is a lot!!

I too still have my 05 duramax and have been on the fence on what to do about replacing it, like yours it only got 95k miles, only gets used anymore to tow my 24' enclosed trailer and road trips but that don't justify the cost of a new one.

Been debating gas truck for some time. I'm guessing you didn't have much trouble selling your 04 and did pretty good money wise, they seem to be a big demand for them yet for sure.

I lost money on mine because I got screwed when I bought it. I looked for about a year to find a low milage mint condition one. Wanted to try one and could not afford a new one. I found mine at a dealer. 1 owner clean car fax and bad injectors, dealer neglected to tell me the injectors were shot. I paid 18,500 for it. Mint truck so I was fine with that. Dealer wanted $5600 for new injectors. I found some online for $2400 and $1400 install at the local dealer. That was a little better.

As a trade in a GMC dealer offered me $8,000. I walked out and refused to by there truck.

I put the truck on Craigslist and sold it in 3 days for $16,000 telling the new buyer it had bad injectors. He is going to replace them him self.

I'm in Colorado and those trucks are hot. I don't get why... I didn't like it. Everyone and there brother wants a clean Duramax. You will have no trouble selling one if your around here.

Buy and sell enough cars and you just get burnt once in a while. I am done with diesels. I will stick with gas engines. A new LS1 isn't even $5800.

I've always loved short bed single cab big engine trucks with a nice road coarse stance. I wish they would come out with something similar to that

I have been reading a lot about that and pretty much the wonderful US wont let manufacture make them. They are doing the big engines in the 4 doors because of how gas milage regulation are figured. No common sense, needed to make laws in America. I think pure stupidity is the only real requirement.

It turns out the gas milage regulation are based on square footage of usable space between the wheels. Yep... has nothing to do with weight or use of the vehicle. Of course a 4 door long bed will get worse gas milage. So the USA let it get worse gas milage and require the shorter lighter truck to get way better milage then possible.

The rules are so strict that Dodge and Toyota decided to stop building regular cabs all together. Many people are saying we are nearing the end of all Regular Cabs

I was honestly taken back when we started getting development trucks in regular cabs. I was sure their time was up, and wasnt expecting at all to see one. I happen to love them as well. Similar to your dilemma, my older brother in 99 found 1 of 2 left in the country regular cab 98 (square), stripper, 60/40 bench, short box V8. By the time he was buying the dealer came up with 2 in the country. We still have it too!
