Had an LT1 eat a camshaft once after less than 100 miles on my 96 Z28, made a funny noise when I started it and ran kinda rough, drove right to the dealer, they took one listen to it, took the key away, gave me a loaner, and replaced everything from the clutch forward. They said a few more miles and some of the fine metal shavings journeying throughout the motor would have clogged something and I could well have had something sticking out of the block where one would not normally expect it.....I just wish I had a better story about breaking it, but all I did was start it....

no I've got that story...except it only made it to the water jacket and through the oil pan.
