I forgot to say in my huge post that her AC and heater would not work also after the switch replacement, but did after the 2nd "reboot."

I would start with the grounds - have a look at the wiring diagram - they specifically have a section on grounds. The ignition switch is not a bad thought but I wouldn't go replacing parts until I had more diagnostic information.
