The ZL1 weighs 500lbs. more than the SS? Did the previous owner weld a Harley Davidson to the roof?

This is a no-brainer. The ZL1 is the way to go.

Well I'm the odd one out...get the SS.

What other mods are done to the SS? Just bolting a S/C doesn't make it 600 rwhp. It has to have upgraded fuel system and most likely some other things.... exhaust, suspension, etc?

If I had to open the garage door and see a car with a color I don't like, I also won't like driving it, no matter how much power it made. "Oh hey, look at my puke brown ZL1, it's fast and ugly as sin".

What is the condition of the paint on both, the interior, under the hood? I think you pointed out the things that are important to you, in order to make the decision, but for everyone else that hasn't see the two cars, it would be a little bit more.

Are you wanting the power to drag race, road course, or just to "have" as a DD? 600 hp doesn't do snot in daily traffic. You seem to focus on the power, but what are your plans with that 'extra' power?

Where are you getting that from? It's less than 250, but the difference is even less when you add ~90 lbs of supercharger to the SS. ZL1 is heavier because it's built to take the added power.

600rwhp is very easy to get with basic mods on ZL1

Your already talking about selling in 1-2 years, ZL1 will be easier to sell than any modified (boosted!) SS. It's $6k more for a reason.

ZL1: 6-piston front brakes, forged wheels, PTM (coupe), beefier transmission, 9.9" cast iron diff, magnetic shocks, NPP, coolers, aero and of course the LSA is built to take the boost.

2013 adds HUD, MyLink, rear camera and the updated '12+ suspension

No question

I wouldn't let the hp difference change your mind. Pulling power out of a ZL1 is very easy and 600rwhp is not hard to achieve. The SS is pretty maxed out at 600rwhp without rebuilding the short block for boost.

The suspension and drivetrain are also significantly upgraded in the ZL1 to handle more abuse.

If its close I would lean ZL1 if you have the cash but there is nothing wrong with an SS

Add one more vote to for the ZL1. If I had the cash, I would have bought a ZL1 instead of an SS. Me personally, would not purchase a car that was already “heavily” modded, you never know what that person did during the install. I would rather do them myself and know for sure that they were done right.

Just curious, what color are they?

ZL1 hands down. Forged internals, factory supercharged, beefy rear end, better wheel & tire package, 6 piston fronts, Recaros?, mag ride, etc etc. And pulling 600 out of a ZL1 is childs play.

Fixed that number for you

Proven with 1,000 hard launch tests

To test the chassis and suspension components to ensure they were up to repeated hard-start launches typical at the drag strip, engineers subjected the ZL1 to the grueling “Woodward Avenue Schedule” at the GM Milford Proving Ground.

Named for the famous cruising route that cuts north through Detroit’s suburbs and has been the venue for untold thousands of unofficial launch capability demonstrations since the 1960s, each test cycle is a hard-launch, standing-start drag race up to 100 mph. The ZL1 was subjected to 1,000 test cycles before its driveline was stamped “approved”.

“The Woodward Avenue Schedule was a really brutal test, but it told us the Camaro ZL1 would live up to the way we knew our customers would drive it on the track,” said Rojewski.

While I would normally say get the ZL1, I also advocate that you should get the exact car that you want. I'll spare you the read from all of the Zl's advantages; There is also something to be said about getting the car of your desire.

If that car happens to be the ZL1, then life's good. Otherwise, I'd tell you to keep shopping.

I would go ZL1 without looking back. They are pretty rare around here but as someone said if I did not like the color it would be a deal breaker. Maybe look around a bit more for a ZL1 you like. You have more choices than just those two just have to shop around. They do have them on my dealers lot once and awhile. I have never seen one on the road though.

ZL1, no question. The suspension is flat out better. The drivetrain is better, the car is better.

A stock-ish ZL1 should be worth more than a heavily modified car if you come to sell it one day, me personally, I would sooner say I own a ZL1 than a modded stocker.

I have nothing against mods but I would love a ZL1, but they are so pricey over here its just a dream, get the ZL1, the factory have done all the hard work already.

zl1 all day long. who knows if any corners were cut on the 2010 car. How long have the mods been on and did the owner choose the best or the cheapest? Who did the installation? etc etc
