Side question, actually 2.
Where does one buy the GMPP besides the dealer? Google gives me a bunch of links that look shady. Can I still get the GMPP on a 14 Z? |

Well if the 6.5/1,000 motor incident rate JAS noted holds true then we should expect 12 motors failures out of the 1,801 Z/28's.
Only way to be sure you are not is to do the top end before anything happens. Only downside is some cost, but well worth it for long term peace of mind! |

Thanks for the replies and input! I guess the big answer is no matter the engine or the manufacturer Any of Them can Fail especially if pushed hard enough. And 505hp out of a naturally aspirated 427 also has its boundaries. As much as we don't want to think so. Thanks JR

Call Patrick Ryan at Denny Menholt Chevrolet......he gave me an extended warranty on my 2009 ZR1 in 2016. Super easy......I imagine he can do it for any Chevy....... If that number doesn't work, use (406) 896-3058 |

Has anyone on this forum lost an engine due to this valve issue? I don’t recall seeing any yet.

Broken valve spring. #6 piston on the intake side. No check engine light, just started missing real bad. 95K miles all highway. No track days. Maintained using the 'severe' schedule. GM would not warranty due to headers. Changed all 16 springs and runs like new.

Do you have any noticeable valve train noise at around 2K RPM? Does it go away once warm?

FYSA- I ended up having a odd noise from my Z at its 13k mile mark. Identification of concern after driving it for less than 4K miles as a DD. I took the Z in for concern. The heads were found to be of default and they were removed for repairs. Further investigation highly recommended, found that the bearings were shot (cam, cylinder walls, pistons and crank mains). The technical investigation department found the damage resulted to either the heads and or assembly. The GM warrenty did not cover due expiration. Thus, the engine had been thoroughly inspected and approved, the damage had not been discovered due to a the lack of investigation of internal components prior or at purchase, thus purchased with “GM certified-inspection”. From my overall perspective-crap happens. It’s a chance we take and or choose. We live every day, and only die once... we cannot take these materialistic items with us.
