Go to a different dealer. The first dealer I went to said the same thing "We don't do updates to the car, unless it's specifically for that issue." The next dealer I went to, that i brought my car in for a paint issue performed all of the updates for me without even asking. Need to find a good Service shop

I suppose that would be an idea

I would sure hate to have to Drive thru the entire state of Oklahoma- seeing if the dealership will update my car, especially if the updates are only needed for cars with issues.

You would think that your VIN would determnine what is loaded in your ECM and what updates you are required to upload regadless of if the issue is present.

I have an issue with "we only update if you are having these problems" It certain sounds like a Pi$$ poor buisiness practice.

Any Service manager on here that would like to chime in?

Mike

Ok, I entered my VIN and if it has a Bulletin #, is that what has to be updated? Or is it the CVN #? If it is the CVN, my Camaro is going to be in the shop. wow.

Coming from the computer world I can understand not doing updates unless you are having issues. Updates always have the possibility to cause more issues.

Example - I once updated a computer board when I was having an issue. And the next time I started up the computer it started SMOKING. The update physically fried the board.

Yeah I agree the old adage of if it aint broke don't fix it definitely applies here. The worst thing you can do is have them load a poor newer version and make things worse or make things that were working break. I would say have a place like Jannity do the tune. I belive he can put it on a predator tuner so you can install remove an mildly tweak it. PM him I'm sure he can help.

Ok I think I understand the website that was posted earlier here. It seems my car does not need any updates. I certainly don't have any issues. I don't want to cause a problem since I currently don't have any.

Car will be tuned by Extreme Horsepower in NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX
