Let the MODS begin...

Hey George,

I finagled a deal with my wife and rather than wait until February to order my MGW shifter, I ordered it tonight. WOO HOOO

Looking forward to getting it and installing it. My first MOD..not dealer installed....

Thanks Again...

Hi Tracy,

Have you compared this MGW product against the Barton Short Throw? I have had the Barton installed for about a month now and have experienced a bit of vibration noise going from 2nd to 3rd gear. It also has a noticeable (clicking) sound going into 3rd gear. Not as much as the Hurst I have seen and experienced in other Camaros, however it is noticeable. Is this sound typical given the engineering of the Barton Shifter? What are your experiences with the MGW by comparision/contrast? How is the shift from 2nd to 3rd with the MGW? Your input, experience and recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks,

Rich Rauh

I found the problem. It was just a couple of the allen head screws for the pistol grip that needed some re-tightening. Like most shifters, the harmonic dampening is in the grip and shaft. MGW, a complete unit assembly, even has added sound deadening matt without a billet style handle, unlike the Barton. Still much quieter than the Hurst however.

MGW,

I watched the video's on your wedsite and have a question,
Your shifter housing uses two bolt-in legs and requires the housing to be leveled after the transmission is bolted in the proper location. My concern is that the bolts are not suficient to retain the alignment under continued operation. I know you you specify loctite but the housing looks like it will move under hard shifting and normal driveline vibration.
I like the features of your shifter over some of the competitors units and seriously considering buying this unit. I don't mean to pick apart this design but do have this concern about the mounting and long term sustainability of housing alignment.
Please comment, I would like to here some reassurance that this will be good for the long haul.

the mounting bolts actually are not under the strain they appear as the shifting once set level is basically front to back. also you have to realize that as you pull front and back either bolt is either getting tighted MORE so they play against each other. i am VERY confident that it will work fine as long as the proper torquing and loctite is used.

if there is ANY issue down the road you can be assured we will take care of it but i do not forsee any!!!
