Currious to what the 1/4mile times will be. I have been thinking what my next DD car will be. This might be it even though i have always been a Camaro guy. However if we see a more potent ZL1 arrive, i may go that route. Cars i have been looking at are the Hellcat( i have a 18 Daytona 392 now DD car), Audi RS3, Another ZL1, and now the C8 vette. As you can see, they are all similar pricing. Besides performance, a good sound system is a must. I have a long ride(40miles each way) to work. Thus far, IMO, my Dodge has a much better sound system then my ZL1. The weight savings of the Vette, shows what can be done with that HP level. It is almost identical to my Daytona at 485/475, but im at 4400lbs

I think the new corvette is a fantastic car. Still won't be a fit for me until later in life as I have kids and we all enjoy going out together as a family. I rarely get to drive alone.
I think GM has really outdone themselves. Its still a pushrod despite all the DOHC grumblings and its 500 hp in a car that is I am guessing sub 4k pounds I can't imagine what it would be like to drive. I also can't imagine what a Z06 or ZR1 would be like in that body. Great time for American cars. Really no reason to buy a Lambo or Ferrari anymore. Expensive to own expensive to maintain just expensive. |

As much as I am enticed by the performance (and the potential of the higher trimlines down the road), I am a manual purist. I don't care if autos/DCT's/etc are faster. I had an RS5 with an incredibly quick dual clutch and I was still bored.
I also value my nearly useless back seat for now, because I can take the kids. I understand why they did this, but I'm still more interested in a C7 ZR1 M7 than the C8. It's also sad coming to terms with the fact that there will probably be no more manuals at all, in anything within 10 years (maybe less). |

For comparison the dry weight on a 1SS Camaro would be 3685 - 150 = 3535 lb (roughly). I think the C8 will be roughly 170 lb lighter than a 1SS manual Camaro.

Be curious to see how the cockpit noise is with the engine right behind your head. Also like to see what the Z51 performance package adds to the price.

So I'll disagree, there's plenty of people that have had gremlins with every year of the Camaro. It's really just luck of the draw with a mass produced vehicle. That's what warranty is for and just hopefully you don't end up with a lemon. Having said that, I love my Camaro, but this Corvette is the first time I felt like I wanted something different lol Maybe if I get a promotion. My ideal scenario will be keeping my Camaro and buying a C8.

This thing is 3500 pounds with 500 horsepower, it’s gonna be fun to drive. I’m not 100% sold on the design yet, I have to see it in person to make up my mind. Those square exhaust pipes drive me nuts!!! They look terrible !!
The interior looks like a much needed improvement over the C7. GM did a great job with the pricing. I’m looking forward to the upcoming years and the Z06 and ZR1 versions of this thing. I wonder how Ford is going to make out with the new GT500 being so pricey as a starting point now that this thing has hit the streets at such a reasonable price point.

If I was going to get a Corvette it would be a C6 ZR1!! Those are still good looking Corvettes and that LS9 supercharged engine was a beast in its time!
