OK after grieving since Sunday I am willing to post this for advice. I was turning a parking lot corner too short and nicked the curb with the right rear rim. It turns out damage is like something gnawing at the outter part of rim. 'Bite mark' length is about 4 inches. Is there a way to polish (sand it??) the rim to make it smooth again? Or should I just see this as a battle scar?
Thanks
Ken

It is available, but it is expensive from what i hear. You may want to try a wheel repair shop to get some.

as far as wax goes ,I would recommend Wheel Wax

My brother's C6 has the similar wheels, re; polished, and I've covered them with a coat of Zaino at the time of each detailing. They still look as good as the day he bought the car.

You use citrus cleaners to remove tar and bugs from paint!!These cleaners are made from natural products and completely safe when used as per directions as any product would be.I have three show cars and two race cars with no problems and yes they have won before you ask.

Boeshield T9
Developed by Boeing to protect Aluminum Aircraft Parts
http://www.boeshield.com/why/why_t9.php

If the rims are bare metal, I'd polish with Brasso, Turtle Wax Chrome Polish or somesuch to bring back the luster, then protect with Boeshield T9. Be careful with Brasso, I think it has ammonia in it.

The Turtle Wax Chrome Polish is marketed as such, but it is just a mild polish
and I've used it on things other than chrome.

I would not use the above procedure on painted metal.
