Final update

Just wanted to follow up on this. I finally got my new 427 motor installed and this champion is working very well so far!

I live in South Florida and yesterday's high was 89 degrees. With an iron block 427 and a centri blower, I never saw over 201 degrees ECT. This was during a tuning session on the street and I made several small short pulls upto 5500rpms about 12 psi of boost. The average coolant temp was 196. Stock fans. Stock 40k mile thermostat. I did adjust my tune (about 3 years ago) to kick the fans on earlier. 50% fan duty cycle at 160 degrees. Other than that, its all stock water pump, thermo, fans.

I will say I think I lost about 1/8-1/4 inch of clearance between the radiator fan and motor. Other than that, I think it's a great buy so far.

I also used a Trickflow steam vent kit, but its just a fancier looking system. As long as you have the stock steam vent and allow for the steam/coolant to flow back to the radiator and have properly burped/purged the system and have no air pockets you should not have a problem with this radiator cooling your engine.

This was a 3 row, I dont believe it has a specific part number. I run the stock thermostat, even on the 427. I actually destroyed this champion radiator by leaving a tool in the engine bay when I started the car. It fell into the belts and was flung into the radiator. it bounced around the fans and punctured it in several places.

I went onto ebay and picked up a no-name 2 row radiator for $167 shipped and its also been cooling just as well as the last one, even though its thinner. (I wanted more space). Of course it came on the slow boat from China and did not include the trans cooler fitting, even though it said it would.

They both seem to be of the same quality. Which is FAIR. You get what you pay for.

I personally just wanted a radiator that didnt have plastic end tanks.

I hear you there. Mine are weeping at the crimps. I can always smell it when the car is hot.
