I'll keep that all in mind...thanks

Not trying to be corny here, but you sound like a really cool dad.

You know, getting him a 5th gen sounds like a great bonding tool. Just saying. I mean, you already know how us Camaro guys are. You can help pass on the stuff you already know about these cars.

Don't kid yourself about the V6. I happened to pick up a 3 1/2 foot long ticket last night with my v6 Camaro. They lack torque, but can certainly get to stupid speeds quickly. Luckily, the officers in both patrol vehicles weaving through traffic to catch up to me were really nice guys. They did me a huge favor. The actual citation ended up for only 10 over, but the rest of the violations are all on there. Told me to get a court date and the writing officer will tell the judge he would rather I pay the fine and not get the points.
I have a detector built in on my Z06. It may be time for an Escort and a blendmount in the V6, at the very least. Or better yet, time to act my age.

I really appreciate the kind words....thank you! He's been a pretty good kid. We bought him a Altima when he turned 16 which has been a good car. But I understand why he is wanting something completely different. And I guess too in a way like you hit on, have something like I have. So many on here have been so helpful to me in so many ways over the past couple of years and I could never thank you all enough. And trust me, i'm still learning something new from you guys on pretty much a daily basis. But back to the camaro, we just want him to be safe and have a fun safe car altogether and one he could enjoy for sometime as well.

Just fyi, that v6 makes more power than the other options he's been looking at.

True but when I drove it, it didn't have that instant big torque feel to it. Yeah mid to upper is pretty impressive I must say. Also IMO, there's no comparison with regards to handling and safety between the 4th and 5th gens. The 350z has a shorter wheelbase and I was concerned more about it being too twitchy in certain circumstances. And ok I know many hate mustangs, but I do like some of them. And having owned a couple from the early 2000's, I know first hand how fast the ass ends can try to come around on those. I'm just trying to find a good compromise so he's not overwhelmed. But yes you are correct on the h.p and I had pointed that out to him. He mentioned a 5th gen ss a few times as well this weekend and to honest, that scared the hell out of me. So I did mention that these newer 6 cylinder engines are making more h.p than those GT mustangs and Z28's back in the early 2000's. Thanks for pointing that out though.

Looks like a good find. Yes, price may be a little high but it appears to be well cared for and that color is definitely a bonus. Offer $10K-11K and start the ball rolling. If you get him to come down a bit I think all parties will be satisfied. Great and SAFE car for a responsible young man. His buddies will drool.

The V6 and V8 can get to extremely dangerous speeds. The V8 just gets there a little quicker. Still, both cars can get you into serious trouble if you're not careful.

I think a clean well cared for V6 is better than a beat to death V8 for the same price. If he needs more power some day, he can always upgrade to an SS or even a ZL1/Z28 later down the road.

If you really like it offer $10k, settle on 11k maybe. I bought my fully loaded 2ss with 10k miles last year for $20k can find ones under 100k miles around 15k for an SS which is a whole lot more car

Well looks like we'll have another Camaro in the family soon. Guy wasn't budging off his 13k price he gave us the other day. We could only get him down to 12.5k. Didn't want to push him too much more after going back and forth over the phone and have him just shut down altogether. Definitely tried for everything between 10k-12k but no go...not happening. After searching our area and beyond all day yesterday, we couldn't find another one out there anything close to this one in term of miles, clean never wrecked or salvaged etc. So it is what it is and my boy is happy and in the end, that's all that matters.

I wouldn't say you stole it but there aren't that many with such low miles and clean too.
I'd say well done.

Not too shabby. Aiming for 11 and scored at 12.5. The amount of cash given up in the negotiating process is miniscule compared to the cool Dad points you picked up. Glad to see it worked out.
