What is considered the limits of the stock blower? I would think that with my pulley combo and cooling setup that I would be okay (plus i'm running E85 to minimize detonation). The cam I'm planning to do, as mentioned above, i'd assume would only help my case, unless i'm misunderstanding

They had all the supporting mods you could possibly have and one of the best tuners in the area but the rods could only take so much after a while. One of the guys built my setup and tried to get me to run the same and I opted for something safer for daily driving, 750RWHP in a daily is more than enough for me.

I've got a heads/cam setup with E85 and cooling mods and I still didn't want to go over 16psi. Even with all the cooling you can get the blower won't make more power just more heat when you over spin it. I'm just not sure chasing a higher dyno number is worth it unless you have the weak points of the LSA replaced first. I have had my build for about 3 years now and have only had an 50 mm idler pulley bearing go out on me which is pretty common for that size. What is your RWHP goal you are trying to reach?

That's it in a nutshell, isn't it?
I'm about the same: 700's on 93, pushing 800 on corn. But I will probably save that for track days. The beauty of the ZL1 unlike a Voodoo, is it takes off like a freight train at 600rpm on up with all that torque. You can practically break into the 9's at 800rwhp in a ZL1. At some point it becomes unstreetable...certainly less steetable with more hp. I'm convinced you need rods, trunnions and supporting mods above 700rwhp. With the right mods, the 1900 can go to 800rwhp. That's it. For years the CTSV guys were pushing past that...and they all broke. |

Pretty much
I just wanted something safe and reliable so I think I picked a good middle ground to stop at. I love this car too much to shoot for a huge dyno number and possibly have a ton of issues in it's life span where I can't fully enjoy it.

At 700 rwhp I believe it prudent to install PUSHrods and trunnions. At 800rwhp, yes, you need more internal mods, as well as a new blower. That's my understanding.

I started seeing blow-by on the factory block at 780 rwh. Leakdown test confirmed problem. Ring seals issue after tear down. Threw in forged rods and pistons and no issues since at 800-825 rwh.

I'm probably at around 700rwhp on E, maybe 640ish on 93 (street tuned, so just a guess). I have the pushrods and springs already, was getting ready to do a cam, but still need the trunions among a few other odds and ends. I'll just stay out of it/stay on 93 until I swap the cam and get into the valvetrain

You can go way way down the modding rabbit hole without a problem. 1le ‘s can bolt on a AGP twin kit/W fuel system, make 800 and be fine. You have a ZL1 the LSA block is strong, so is the trans and diff. You’d have to do a fair amount of mods to hit 800 on the LSA blower but it can be done. Just spend the money on a tuner that you trust with your child.

I've seen it kiss 17lbs in a few of the logs, but peaks around 16lbs most of the time

We've had some pretty stout ones hit 1000 but you really need a solid tuner. I wouldn't go over 800 like you mentioned.
