Thanks for the correction

I should have mentioned: I'll be trading in the truck I have as well, so will be looking for a daily driver. I don't really need the truck, just got it to keep the Camaro in the garage (it's cheap, but it runs). Definitely do NOT want to keep the truck as the gas mileage is worse than I imagined it would be.

For one, it ensures you have cash when needed, but also you can save that extra money and eventually put a nice chunk down on a 2011 Camaro or purchase a used 2010 and have really low payments. I for one wish I could do this but I'm stuck upside down in a high payment for an ordinary car.

If you know enough about cars, you can probably find a good deal from a private seller and get something that runs well for under $3,000. If it lasts you a year, it pays for itself.
Well, I'll at least be able to pay for a good chunk of the car in cash. Just got my $8,000 tax credit back, so that will go into whatever I get as a down payment. I may keep my eye out for a decent used vehicle too though, thanks for the tips everyone!

Here's another option for you. Sell the truck yourself, use that money and the $8000 to refinance your current vehicle loan, using the cash as a large down payment. Maybe that would put the monthly down to something more affordable. If the money is going into a car, might as well be the one you have so you don't take a loss on the Camaro and you get to keep it.

Depending on how much you owe and what interest rate you have, you could reduce your payments by as much as $200. Even though you've only had it for about 5 months, just about any bank would refinance it for you with a large chunk down.

How about an HHR LS?? Same platform as a Cobalt, but you get more utility and a cool bodystyle...

If I had to drive very far to work. I would get a diesel VW of some kind. Jetta, Bug, or Golf. They run very well when slightly modified and get unreal mileage.

Use the money you save to save for another Camaro. By that time a newer and better model will be out by then.

If I'm gonna get an ugly car I'd just go all out and buy an Aztek I am looking at the Scion tC though. Dunno why, I just like that lil thing. One of the guys I knew out in California had one for a lil bit and I was pretty impressed with it (aside from the gas mileage, which isn't too horrible still)

Well, the whole point of getting the truck was to keep the Camaro in the garage for the winter. Otherwise, yeah, I would definitely have gone that route (stupid iowa weather! )

Mmm, I'm not too fond of the HHRs. Body style reminds me too much of the dang PT Cruisers.

Anywho, I'm starting to lean towards the tC. Very unique little car.... I'll have to take it for a test drive and see how they handle. Thanks for all the advice guys
