What's up?
Absolutely no need to it would be a waste of money at this time.

GM is spending BIG TIME to advertise the BUICK LACROSSE right now to try to get some of LEXUS's & other make buyers to bite.
The Camaro needs NO help right now !

I saw a commercial at a Shell gas station while I was getting gas. It was for the V6 and the slogan was something like "may the best car win".

Camaro's and Corvettes are considered niche rides, and as such GM will not spend money advertising these machines on broadcast or cable tv.

You'll only see Howie Long advertise the bread-and-butter cars to the mass media.

Lastly... I don't remember advertisements for any Generation Camaro, other than what I saw in print, here and there. A Camaro never needed advertisement.

(Most of the car adds on now are all about getting rid of '09 inventories.)

Go to YouTube, plenty of Camaro ad's, for prior generations....

GM Canada never declared bankrupcy. But they were painted with the same brush.

Brands do not advertize out of desperation. If that were the case you would never see a Big Mac on TV. ( THEY spend over a MILLION $ A DAY).

I started seeing CAMARO stand alone 15 second spots on a frequent basis in early Dec. Often more than 3 times a night. These were over and above the "yellow track shot" with Bobby Orr and the " Chevrolet showroom " still shot with the other SILVER Chevrolets.

Advertising the CAMARO promotes the entire Chevrolet brand. It introduces the CAMARO to a whole generation who never paid any attention. Demand creates additional excitement and just like 67 puts butts in the showroom where Dad may want the CAMARO but Mom gets the Traverse.

It is wiser to go fishing while the fish are biting than to go to the lake when it has been fished out.

FWIW I have noticed magazines ads for the Camaro lately. (Vogue's latest issue and Dwell's past 2 issues.) I assume that since these are "style" magazines that Camaro advertising is quite fitting....

Commercials..........

Camaros don't need no stinking commercials........

Y would anyone in there right mind spend advertising money on a car that,

1: is the most awsome car to ever exsist.

2: is outselling the competion without ads.

3: is the most awsome car to ever exsist.

and most importantly,

4: is the most awsome car to ever exsist.

Camaro Commercials

Didn't they run a pair of 2 hour long Camaro Commercials in theaters not long ago? If I recall, they were charging people MONEY to see them too!

The mere presence...the Camaro is selling itself. No need for GM to spend useless money when sales are blowing away the competition.

Just think about what you said though: "With all the excitement this new car is generating for the General" You see why maybe they wouldn't need to pump so much money into advertising it? They're handily outselling all their competitors, without heavy advertising and without sales incentives!! That's awesome!!

Cars like these tend to sell themselves. It's always been that way, if somebody wants a sports car, they know where to look. That said; advertising money is spent on more than just commercials: internet Ads, magazine test-drives, SEMA projects...all that generates news, and takes money to put on...marketing money.
I was just going to say that Dragon. I saw this commercial today actually. GM isn't going to slow down while it's on fire.

Being a constant head turner, this car is a commercial in and of itself!

Actually, I love the fact that the 5th Gen seems to have a huge grass roots following.

Then again ... Two extremely popular Transformer movies (and DVD's) have been the best advertising GM could ask for.

Someone also mentioned that a Ghost Rider sequel will also be hosting the Camaro!
