Agreed. Sorry the OP and some others are disappointed. I'm not an audiophile as I once was but it works well for me. I run the EQ at 12 8 11 (high, mid, low) and I like the sound I'm getting. It's just how I like to listen to music.

Amplifier woes...

I have the BA system in my new 2SS. It's fine, but I have to say that I keep playing with the EQ and fader settings to try to get it to sound as good as the Monsoon system in my 2002 Z28 (which I traded in for the 2SS).

The Monsoon system only had 8 speakers (vs. 9 in the BA system), but it had a 500W amplifier (in the stock premium radio). The BA only has 245W. I think that's what makes the difference in pumping cleaner sound.

Does anyone know if the amplifier can be replaced without altering any of the rest of the stock BA setup? Would love to add a bigger amp, but am not interested in adding a big sub-woofer or other audio mods. Just want better sound in the mids and highs.

Anyone? Bueller?

You would need to know how much the speakers can 'handle' whether or not you would improve the overall system with just an amp.

This is an easy fix for not too much money. Get an amplifier and some upgraded speakers. Boston Acoustics makes great aftermarket components, but the OEM system will leave you wanting more if you had high expectations. It is good for the price range, but this is a fair concern. JL has a system called CleanSweep that allows you to keep your stock radio while significantly improving audio quality. Check it out.

Yeah, look at this winter tire thread... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59101

One person says they don't notice any performance difference in the cold weather and people act like there's no difference driving on Summer tires in the winter and you'd only need or want winter tires if you were an idiot...

off topic, I know, but you're right. You get one person to say one thing. The people that disagree won't post and all the people that agree will say "yeah totally!"

I was just fooled when I saw all the threads saying "BA is the best!!!" I expected too much, much like when I was studying abroad and missed the whole Napoleon Dynamite craze. I came back and watched the movie with high expectations because everybody was quoting it and was like "it's so awesome" but it really wasn't.

I too saw some threads claiming the BA system was outstanding, the best thing since sliced bread.

But then I got mine and knew right away that the fanbois got a little caught up in the excitement, I don't see how anyone could think this BA system is and elite car OEM car stereo..... because it simply is not.

It goes both ways. Regardless of what you post, you'll find a massive army of supporters here. With 21k members, Camaro5 has enough people that you'll find agreement regardless of what you post.

I'm not disappointed with the BA system. Not the best I've ever heard but not the worst. I certainly won't change it out for something else. I'ts fine for my needs.

I have the base system. It's fine, but lacks volume. Cranked all the way up is neither distorted nor loud. LOL

I added a sub and it did wonders. An amp (or amps) is my next step, if I ever get around to it.

Count me in with those that think the BA system is just fine. I listen to various forms of rock (vs rap with tons of bass) and get good lows, mids, and highs. It took some time and tweaking of the sound levels though.
