Idk. I'll just run it for a while and when I plan on changing the cam again with a torque converter I guess when I do that I'll rebuild it then. Sucks though because the damn thing is still shifting strong. Thanks for your help diagnosing.

Hey I was wondering if the slip yoke could be loose because there’s no side play on the output shaft only when twisting back and forth?

It's possible the yoke is loose or the splines wore. It's worth a look. I would change the transmission fluid/filter and look for metal also to see if something deeper in is damaged.

I just had the fluid and filter changed two weeks ago when I installed the tru cool 40k and there was no metal in it just kinda dirty. Does the tail shaft hold any fluid in it?

Does anyone know where I can get a new slip yoke for the drive shaft to the transmission? I've searched everywhere and can't find one.

I guess what I wanted to know is if there where a difference in the two listed as the same part number. Also what's the difference in the 6l80 and the 6l80E?

Should be the same since it has identical part number.

As far as I know all 6l80 transmissions are electronically controlled which is where the "E" comes from.
