Seems like the closer to the ground the air filter is, the faster dirt would build up in the filter being so close to all the road dust and what all. If you are looking for COLD air, check out CAI inc. (insulated but see-thru airbox). In the independent tests that Jannettyracing performed, the rise in air temp was almost nill. Also, the OTR (over the radiator) intakes do a fantastic job of keeping the air temps way down. Some actually claim to reduce the air temp. The 2 popular companies out there now are New ERA and Vararam. Vararam is big in the Corvette and Pontiac G8 world. Good luck.
