If you can help it, purchase the "freshies". Get as new a date code as you can.
Now this is helpful! Especially when you’re thinking about doing the sensor in a tube scenario. Never seem to find any info that this works or if it does, not for very long. Makes sense if the tire needs to move in order to “wake it “ (the sensor), due to the gyrometer. Food for thought.

Inside the TPMS is a very small circuit board (potted for environmental reasons) with the primary components: small battery, ASIC (brains), two gyroscopes (I call them gyrometer!), pressure sensor, and a transmitter which sends the “pressure” information to the on-board computer or the ECU or whatever the auto manufacturers use to read the signal. The signal strength of the TPMS to the on-board computer identifies the F/R location, and the signal of the gyro identify the direction of rotation identifying L/R. You can have all of this for $10, but it gets marked up to $100++

Ok now I got the part number I’m going to order one. Going to take it to tires shop (just the rim and a tire) so they don’t fudge up anything. Once they install the new TPMS, put the old tires back, and balance them will it read the new TPMS or do I have to reprogram or use a scan tool. Anyone who experience this hands on or just take it to dealer / tire shop and let them do it all? Your thoughts.

You'll need a TPMS reset tool. Can get it from Amazon for cheap. I have one, does what it's supposed to.

You know when it's time for one to die, the other 3 can't be far behind. Might want to bite the bullet and deal with the pain all at once.

Thanks gbland60 for you information on TPSM and a scan tool. I ordered a scan tool to relearn the code for now. The other day my second rear one went out. Hell I might as well replace all 4 and save the headache later. It’s about time they all go out soon.

Update. All done during Christmas break. Thanks to gbland60 for TPMS part number and scan tool recommendation. Took the tires only to local Discount Tires and had them replace all TPMS and rotate/balance while all were off the rims. Reprogrammed TPMS and whala, it’s all good.

Yeah, usually these TPMS's have about a 7-8 year battery life, and yours being a 2014, it's about time. Good luck. My Camaro is 14 years old, and only had to replace them, all at the same time when one went bad, once. 132K miles.. Good luck.
