Just thinking out loud. I love 2-strokes and have had many over the years. The cylinder is the only source of oil in a 2-stroke engine. Oil on the plug threads was common. Probably higher compression but the ZL1 does require premium fuel.

I changed mine at 60k and they were all fine. No carbon or oil. How clean is your throttle body? Maybe oil is getting sucked in.

No, I never have had to add oil between changes. This car probably uses 1/4 qt of oil in between changes (2500 mile), so not enough to add any.
