Posting here and getting info is great. I’m going to take a trip this summer and one of the things I have done is spend many hours on google earth fallowing the path I intend on taking. BTW I plan on running the Calif coast from SF to LA and that is just the first trip.

Yes! Highway 101

I live for road trips on 101. Since I moved to Western WA (7 years ago) I have circled the Olympic Peninsula more than a dozen times. Never get tired of it. sometimes we sneak down to OR to check out the coastal forts, light houses and Fort Clatsip is really nice since it was rebuilt. My ultimate goal is to drive down I5 to.....say..San Luis Obuispo and come back home up the CA coast on hwy 1 and 101. Check out Big Sur and the Golden Gate Bridge. Is it Summer yet?

While pondering your road trip here are some more photos to enjoy. We do spend a lot of time on 101 WA coast. And one good one from Teton. Enjoy!

+1 Great Pics!

You know I do not think I have seen a review of the 2010 Camaro as a long distance cruiser. Any feedback or a long distance review link? How are the seats?

The leather seats are great. This car is the perfect long distance cruiser for me. I can spend all day in the thing. And I have! That last pic was Teton. The others are from various spots along Hwy 101 Oly Pen. My wife is a professional photographer. I got a million pics of the coast and the rain forest.

Great food inside the historic "parkitecture" building. You can also combine a great horseback ride with a chuckwagon style dinner at Yellowstone. Just go to http://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm for all the info you need on Yellowstone NP and http://www.nps.gov/grte/index.htm for all the info on Grand Teton NP. Enjoy your trip! The roads out there are perfect for your Camaro! By the way, we went in June so this is what it will look like when you go.
We've already got reservations at Old Faithful Inn and will be spending a couple days in Yellowstone! Thanks for the pics, they're awesome as are mikel441's! We're so pumped for this, I can't tell you! I've been spending lots of time planning and haven't yet decided whether to take a tent/sleeping bag or not...we'll likely just 'hotel' the entire trip (3 weeks) and were wondering when the tourist season starts down there (and if we'll have trouble finding hotels?) We've already got reservations in those places that we know we'll be; it's the unknowns in between that we're wondering about...guess I'll get some use out of Onstars Directions and Connections!

What an awesome thread!!!!! I enjoyed reading it. Pretty flat and boring here in Florida! Looks like it may be time to trade the same old Caribbean vacation, and go West this Summer. WOW!

AK Mike - You will love staying at the Old Faithful Inn (OFI). We stayed there for two nights in Sept. '08. Watching Old Faithful erupt by moon light from the 2nd floor veranda is breathtaking. The salmon dinner at the OFI dining room is a wonderful meal. Make sure you visit Jackson Hole. The Gun Barrel restuarant is very good as is the basement dining room at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. The amount of animals you can see in Hayden Valley make it a must see. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and the falls are at the north end of the valley and is also a must-see. Spring Creek Ranch outside of Jackson is a great place to stay, the view of the Tetons from the cabins is amazing, and the Granery restauarnt there is first rate. Enjoy!

Make sure you spend some time in Colorado as well. Unbelievable history, wildlife, scenery, and great roads like the Million Dollar Highway and Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park!! If you like historic train trips make sure you check out the Durango and Silverton Railroad, Georgetown Loop Railroad, Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, and the Royal Gorge Route. Also, a hot air balloon ride over the Rockies was fantabulous! Enjoy some pics of Colorado from our Honeymoon in 2006. The last picture is an abandoned 1968 Camaro that was sitting in a field near the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park. Poor car!

Nice pics. The Maroon Bells are still beautiful. I need to make it back down to Colorado sometime. Thanks for posting.
