So going with the Koni orange struts and shocks. 2 questions,
1-Should I replace the strut mounts and if so with which ones? I know nothing about mounts.
2-So from seeing lots of videos and threads I assume that you do not need a spring compressor? Especially that I have lowering springs with even less tension?

You should be able to get it with out a spring compressor with the lowering springs, I would replace the mounts, Off the top of my head I am not sure who offers them, Koni is a good choice, they were my go to on 3RD Gen Z/28's. Were you able to figure out the radius rod?

Spring compressor not needed. just apply downward force when unbolting the top mount. They are not heavily loaded like most cars.

Yea I figured out the radius rods. Seems strut mounts are just generic ones and some Gm genuine’s don’t think pedders KONI belsteins offer any. So maybe I’ll get some off of rock auto.

Some of the same issues as original poster. I have a 2011 SS. Only suspension mod was Pfadt sway bars. Cars had some noise coming from the rear end so had rear struts replaced and an alignment. I now have loud popping noises. Sometimes seems from the front and sometimes the rear. Wondering if that could be sway bar bushings. Car only has 55K miles but some of that was solo track runs and it is 13 years old. I was told at the shop I go to that front struts were approaching need to be replaced.
Right now popping sound is biggest concern.

Fogey it's always hard to diagnose these issues without seeing the car, your sway bar bushings would tend to make more of a clunking sound. I like to replace the struts/shocks all at the same time. If they believe your fronts are worn I'd start there. Get the car up in the air and check all of the bushings for play.
