Just to be clear, GM doesn't make belts. "Genuine OEM" belts are made for GM by someone else, typically Gates.

GM hardly made anything themselves for Camaro, outside of sheet metal. Most components are vendor-supplied. Sure, they may have a U.S.-based assembly, like wiring components or sub-frames, etc., but the sub-components are likely non-U.S.A. sourced. Not always, but some. On the 2010 Camaro, for example, you get wheels made in China, and on and on.

Not all non-U.S.A. parts are junk, but many non-U.S.A. aftermarket parts are. Let that soak in. They have the capabilities to make good products. But profit margins (price) is more important. So until people stop buying garbage, they'll continue to make garbage. Unless companies force them, it seems the acceptable tolerance for anything in China starts at +/- 30%.

There's no problem from me that anyone seeks "made in U.S.A." products for their car, but OEM car parts are GLOBALLY sourced today and have been for quite a while. So it's kinda hard to do. Hopefully they can pass all the requirements both federally and by the company's standards, but it's just how it is. Unfortunately, with global sourcing, it makes the U.S.A. less and less competitive price-wise.

Yep. Mostly true, although Camaros were made in Canada from 2010-2015. There hasn't been a 100%, made in USA vehicle in decades. All Chinese parts aren't total crap either but I will still avoid them when I can, for other reasons besides quality. I let a go cart sit for two years because the only place to source a bearing I needed was from China from a Chinese website. I'm kind of stubborn like that.

Toyota has made the most reliable vehicles for years. Do you think they and other Japanese auto makers source their parts from the USA? How about German auto makers? You're not stubborn, you're prejudice.

Piss off.. I know him personally and that is not the case. Don’t throw accusations like that to people you don’t know. It called pride in being American... you know… the best, most free, nation on earth. Chinese stuff is notoriously inconsistent quality at best. Id rather buy American made and support those working here than junk that doesn’t fit right or last from China. There’s nothing prejudice about it. I’ll take my Chevrolets over any Japanese, or European automaker out there. Those Chevrolets have never let me down.

Not quite accurate. While Toyota does make good stuff, they had, by far, the highest number of safety recalls for many years. More than the Detroit "Big Three" combined during the same time frame. Toyota is good, but they aren't God.

And you are aware right, that virtually ALL Toyotas sold in the US are made in the US? Your ignorance is exceeded only by your stupidity, sir.

Thank you. The guy is an ignorant ass and probably from a country not here.

Edit: Just noticed, Antelope California. Kinda says it all. Like I said, from a country not here.
