This ZL1 is the only car I've heard make noise on turning, except for the Detroit Locker I had. It sounded like a jackhammer every time you turned.

Apparently you just want to debate for the sake of it with a reply Not True.. I gave a general statement in that if the fluid is left in for a long period of time the posi rear end will howl as the fluid will congeal with metal. I didn't say a definitive period, but gave an example where I get to 8 years in multiple F150's that haven't been changed before they start to chatter, and a quick change of the fluid has always cleared them up. If you tell me you had a posi rear end that you put 150K on and it never made a sound without a fluid change and I would say you where lucky. By the way I used to lap gears in the summer at Ford between college, and set the Lockers up for final Inspection. I am also an old fart 71 and have owned over 50 cars, so its relative to time itself..

I was a dealer tech for 12 years and a service writer for 8, never once saw a rear end service "fix" anything that was wrong whether it be a noise or a chatter. These cars have a TSB for the groan but is not a permanent fix, the groan comes back. Friction modifier somehow helps which is weird because if the rear does in fact have a worm style Tru Trac in it, there are no clutches in it.

The only time I have seen fluid help a clutch style diff especially in a Ford was when that stinky ass Ford friction modifier in that small bottle was not added as it should have been when it was changed.

You seem to be an anomaly, even all the car people I have been around all of my 60 years they would all say the exact same thing.

If your 1LE was stock and left alone I would recommend the 1LE. Many reasons for this.

1) LS3 is a great powertrain with the 6 speed TR6060

2) You do not need to source magnetic ride shocks

3) The parts for the rear end and differential are plentiful

4) The handling of the 1LE is spectacular, very balanced with 285/35/20's on all corners

5) Brakes are much less expensive to replace than a ZL1

A ZL1 is a great package however it is let down by General Motors not supplying parts.

It is far superior to a C6 Z06 with the failing LS7 valve guides and titanium rods and bearings, the absolute crap seats, the C7 Z06 with its AFM failures and A8 transmission and differential blow outs and dashes that roll up.

Those exact reasons I have considered, the A/C compressor is also no longer available. You have to buy a bracket and put a LS3 compressor on it.

I just put brakes on it and have a full set of low mile mag ride shocks for it. The oil cooler is leaking and I am about to delete it.

The list of non available parts will continue to grow for the ZL1.
