Im looking to strip weight out of my ZL1, how much do you think all the sound deadening behind/in the dash weighs? Also how much crap could be cut out of the dash without loosing much?

Damn dude, nice work! I’m in to see it come together. I bet you have learned a ton about these cars in the process.

Thanks bud, I'm hoping to have it complete in a couple of weeks barring unforeseen problems.

There wasn't much deadening behind the dash to take out, a couple of pounds at most. Don't really know what you wouldn't need to be honest. HVAC? Airbags? Radio?. If you didn't need those you could strip the entire harness out of the car and save around 50 pounds I figure

Rear area, seats, carpet, roof liner, HVAC, dash mount and dash harness reinstalled. Also installed wiring for HD cameras front, sides and rear. I will eventually get a nice AA headunit with top down view that be able to use it lol
LOOK MA, THREE PEDALS!!!

Engine runs and car drives drives, hood is on. Working on minor electrical bugs at the moment. Should have it done by Sunday if everything goes as planned

Awesome stuff. Ton of work. Love to hear about the specifics of cameras and associated audio system setup.

Thanks. It was definitely more work than expected for sure. Chasing minor bugs in the electrical system right now which are likely just loose connectors. Camera was replaced by a stand alone unit connected to a separate screen for now as I had to use the head unit from the 2011. That will be eventually replaced by an aftermarket head unit with a backup camera system built in.

Electrical bugs fixed and working on bleeding the steering. Pump doesnt make any noise but the steering wheel has a bad shake when turning when engine is on. Wheels themselves shake too when turned. Acts normal when engine is off. Im assuming it has a lot of air in the rack causing it but If anyone has experience with this please let me know. I've neve experienced this before when bleeding other cars but I'll just just keep turning the wheel watching for bubbles.
