If you're collecting, the GT350 would be the way to go, but prices doubled from 2020-2021 and have pretty much stayed there around $60K. Having spent some time in one, it's...okay? It revs to the moon but doesn't exactly sound the best when it's up there.

Me personally, I'd grab the slightly newer Mach 1 and call it a day.

To the OP: If you're already not driving the existing car very much, I'd just stick with what you have, or sell that and grab a pair of basic manual SS cars to actually out some miles on...and something you wouldn't be concerned about getting rock chips and scratches on.

Having entered the 5th-gen Camaro ring only recently (early 2023), and after spending some time in the car, as odd as it sounds, it's such a mutant from the driving position standpoint that I can see why so many people put so few miles on these cars. I've also got a 2005 Infiniti G35 Sport coupe with an automatic, and it gets driven so much more than the Camaro does, even though they're both similar in condition and miles...the Infiniti is simply more fun to drive and more useful around town, in that I can actually see out of the thing, while the Camaro is a lot better for road trips...and only road trips. I think there's a reason why your Impala gets more use, it's simply a better car to drive around town than the Camaro, but the Camaro does everything else so much better than the Impala...

My uncle had a 69 Vette, T-tops, with a 427 and 4 speed manual. I loved that car and wish he could have kept it. I just think it was worth too much and based on how little he drove it chose to take the money. I'm more partial to the 68-73 C3s but if I had a choice it would be a C2 coupe, ideally a 63 split window.
I may search for one on a lot and take it for a test drive. Who knows, it may scratch the itch, so there wouldn't be a need to purchase one.

Yeah, today I stumbled onto a picture that I took several years ago and kicked myself for considering parting with it. It was shortly after I bought it, as it had the front license plate bracket and factory wheels.

Before I retired last year, I made a pretty decent salary which meant I had a number of directions I could have gone to replace my Gen 5 V6. I knew I wanted a two door, V8 manual convertible so that narrowed things down substantially . I also wanted something very reliable. I waffled between the 2013 Corvette 427 and the Camaro SS but ended up going with the Gen 5, I think it suits my needs very well.

Do you feel the step up to a V8 was worth it?

I had a 2010 Hyundai Accent SE that I bought new as a daily driver. It might be blasphemy, but it was more fun pushing that subcompact hatchback to go fast, while shifting through the gears, than driving my Camaro SS slow.

I'm not referring to you, but I've never understood the desire for more and more horsepower, only to drive a car to buy beer. The reality is that relatively only a few individuals ever visit a track.

Unsurprisingly, Z/28 values have held up quite well and I've no doubt they'll eventually reach six figures. The Vette would be somewhere between an entry level to mid-range trim.

Buying another car to have two sitting with only occasional use would be a dumb move for me. I would only do it if I were trading my Camaro. It's been floating around the back of my mind since reaching a financial position to be able to do it.

I believe it's because the Mustang has a broader fan base, while the Z/28 is a niche car with a specific purpose - the track.

My interest in the Z/28 has never been about performance. I don't even use the 420HP (tuned) in my SS. It's about it being a Z/28.

I totally agree with you. I liked my '96 Z28 auto way more than my '12 Camaro SS LS3.

sound alone was worth it. Yeah I am a habitual 5 or 10 mile above speed limit so the extra HP didn't mean much but the torque and the V8 burble
