Guys try Latrobe Chevrolet in Latrobe PA....they got me the switchblade silver in 5 days after waiting 5 weeks for GMpartsdirectcrap.com....you'll pay shipping but at least will have them....give them a call...worth a try....paid $400

when you buy a kit with your respected color, like for me its going to be orange, that changes the trim pieces and the ambient lighting?

as for why they are green, my guess is you have the blue lighting, and the yellow trim pieces= greenish lighting

Do these trim kits change the ambient lighting or do they only change the trim? Does anyone know?

The ambient lighting has to go through the colored plastic, so it will be a combined color. My guess is, this is why they went with orange lights in the IOM interior. It is impossible to get that blue color when you add the yellow plastic, unless they left the edge colorless, and you would see that during the daytime.

I order my painted engine cover last week and got it 24 hrs later. I had him check on the interior trim and he said it was in the system. I know that a lot of people had the same problem with the painted engine covers and considering I got mine a day later, I would think things are back on track.

Well do they offer kits to change lights? I don't want orange trim and blue light, for $400 it should be the lights too.
I'm talking like a direct replacement not some custom job either for the lights. Thanks

The very top edge of my switchblade silver trim kits are clear....before I installed them I held them up to a light....you could see right threw it....just the edge of it.....so no theres no change in color of your ambient lighting hope this helps you.

No not really. When I sat in my car for the first time wed I could tell there was a clear area on top. I don't want to have orange trim with blue lighting. Wanting to know if they make a kit to change the lights to orange.

this may be a dumb question, but does the ambient lighting come with the trim kit? I have a 1LT RS and I have the cloth trim. I am going to buy the scorch yellow trim kit and i want to have ambient lighting.

At the current time, "kits" are not available. But, not to worry. you can EASILY change out the color of your ABL LED. EASILY. All it takes in changing out one, single strand of cord. You take off the door trim when you do your door panel and one of the plugs you will have to unplug is the ABL light plug. Just unplug it at both ends, plug in the new orange light and voila! You have orange LED ABL!!! Pretty easy, eh!

Well, it's about time they got that...lol....(no cutting on the people making them....) but, in stock trim, there is a very THIN layer of paint over the top edge. That way, during the day it looks painted....but at night, lights up. Pretty cool effect. But, if you sand the dash parts to make the full ABL work, you are going to have brighter dash trim than the door trim. Just a thought. (I'm thinking of going back and sanding down the stock door trim at the top where the ABL goes so it is the same brightness all the way across)

That, I"m not sure. I would be very surprised if it did. In fact, I can almost give you a 100% no on that one.

You too, can easily add the ABL to the doors though. You need to buy the light pipe (two strands at $14.00 or so each) and two blue GM LED ABL lights. VERY easy to get done, guys...very easy.

Follow the tips in this thread...there's a lot to read though. But, it has part numbers....install tricks...how to take off the door panel...everything you'll need to get this done.
