If you wanted to be guaranteed the incentive you should have bought off the lot.. Whenever you order a car you take a risk of there not being any incentives or discounts available when the car comes in. so to be smart you should never count on any incentives on an ordered car. That way if there are some you are pleasantly surprised, but if there isn't you won't be dissapointed...
Sounds like you had to convince the wife based on the incentive price.. and man that is not a good way of doing things, if anything you should have told her it was going to cost 2K more than the MSRP, then when you paid less you can tell her See honey we saved over $2K....

I guess we were lucky, since we got ours on December 31st, we got the get the $500 off for the return wavier, $750 off for the Credit union discount, and another $550 back on our taxes for being able to claim the sales tax. When I first ordered they had no $500 off for the return and were not accepting the Credit Union discount. So you never know what will be available when you take delivery.

Since ordering the car so far it looks like as of today it will cost me $1,250 more than when I ordered. On top of that you have to tell the wife"Uhhh Honey, you know that car that I ordered that we don't really need and is only a toy? Well,it's going to cost $1250 more"
Now I know nobody cares if I buy it or not. I guess I'm ticked because a person has it in their head and everything is pretty much set on what it will cost than boom those figures are gone.$1,250 isn't going to make me or break me and I can still do it but man I just don't have that warm fuzzy feeling that I should have. Thanks for reading everyone.
I thought you ordered from CamaroScotty? What incentives ended that cost you $1,250?? Or was that the shipping cost?

I hope you got the incentives for $1250.00 writen in the contract or you may find yourself in the possition where you have to buy the car or lose your deposit.

You have to have it in writing to get out, thats a breach of contract.

I'm confused as to what incentive was lost here? Way back in December we were all already well aware that the 60Day incentive was ending Jan 4th, so being that you ordered your car on Jan 4th, you already knew that wasn't an incentive you were eligible for. The $750 I assume you mean firm USAA is available until 12/31/2010...but you have to be a full member of USAA, not a civilian. People in the past got away with it, until GM realized the loophole...so that was nixed a little while back if I remember correctly. So...this is all kinda old news no?

BTW..."incentives" are done at time of delivery...they aren't put in the contract at time of order. Unless the dealer gives a person a deal of their own to replace an expired incentive, that person is SOL.

This logic is pretty bad. 1250 can be a lot, especially if you're financing the car. Go ahead and write him a check if it's not that much to help him be a bit happier... man.

No,I did not have to "convince" the wife with tthe incentives. It comes down to telling someone something at the time than have to come back later and tell them something different.
And yes,it is the 60 day opt out and the 750 USAA.
And I will say again The $1,250 will not make me or break me and with a $35,000 car it's not much but it still sucks.

The USAA discount still applies. It was extended through 2010. The only thing you lose is the $500 return rebate from GM which ended at the first of the year.

the way i look at it, $1,250 is almost a set of longtubes. Or a CAI and an axleback. It's not a life changing amount of money, but it's not chump change either to me. When you add in the extra tax its near $1,350.
