Yea it's a problem with all covers no matter how soft or how tight they are. Dust will get blown up from the ground and under the edges. When you take the cover off, you will expose the inside to the dust in the air. Unless you wash the car every time before you cover it, the cover will gather the dust on the car and even then you have to dry the car first and depending on how long you take dust will still gather on the car. Pretty much no matter what you do, dust will gather in the cover and scratch the car. This is why imo I would not cover a car unless it is being stored for the winter or longer.

I have the GM cover... total waste of money. The only upside is that it looks cool. I keep my Camaro in the garage so I just wanted to prevent dust build up... I found that 2 HIGH QUALITY cotton sheets work great.

Like others said, the GM car cover is a waste. I also went with the Noah car cover and it's great. Currently protecting my car under what's soon to be a foot of snow.

If your car is parked in a garage, its okay. But if you plan to park outside then you need an outdoor cover, something that is water resistant and mold resistant. The OEM cover is not.

I bought an OEM cover from a forum member for $200. I am using it to cover my car in the garage for the winter. It is pretty easy to put on by yourself and looks good. I'm happy with it. I agree with others about not putting it on and taking it off frequently. Anytime you touch the paint you risk scratching it. I'm just using it during winter storage.

You would be better off painting garage walls and sealing the floor. I did this and get almost no dust now.

I bought the GM cover and decided not to use it. It will be prestine for down the road when I sell the car (many years from now.) Stripes were painted on by a restoration shop and car collector. Their warehouse full of classic and rare cars don't have a single cover on them. Reason - "paint off-gases for life. It never completely cures. Covers will cause the paint to fog." Mines in the garage uncovered. More washing but less wear and tear on the paint.

Here's my concern...where I work out of and living surroundings, dirt is unavoidable in LA. Even when I had my Black Pathfinder, it was like watching the SUV change colors in about 8 hrs. I've seen in a couple posts that it can possibly do more damage to the paint having to cover/uncover daily but what other options are really out there? I plan on using it as a daily driver but the thought of not covering seems to me would make it worse than actually covering it and recovering on a daily basis....

Thoughts?

Well, the main reason I'm purchasing a NOAH cover is because, well...I clean my car, ALOT. Twice a day; once before I leave for the day, and again once I'm in for the nite. The problem is, during the day, my car stays immaculate, this is good, but my main problem is during the nite! Overnite the car sits and collects dust, and also now because of the season "pollen". I've parked my totally clean throughout the day car for the nite, and when I awoke the next more to get ready for work, the entire car looks like a Synergy Camaro. I'm talking the entire car is covered in pollen! Omg, it's like everywhere.

Next, another big problem I'm experiencing is bugs! Omfg! These lil bast...while my car is parked over night, in the morning, I literally have 100s of bugs and mosquitos all over my car, apparently "trapped" in moisture just laying there; from the hood to the roof onto the trunk. It pisses me off to no end.

So to cut down my work, and add another layer of protection to my car, I'm going to go ahead and purchase this outdoor cover. I can happily leave my car outside overnite while CLEAN and when I awake know I woke have hundreds of bugs stuck to my car and it's paint, I also won't have to worry about pollen covering my car. I can just get up in the morning, remove the cover, see the car STILL CLEAN, and maybe wipe the window here or there, 2 minutes tops, then roll out!!! Get the cover!

i have the gm car cover and its not something i would recommend other than for looks and long term storage and it is a snug fit for sure. its one layer so theres nothing on the underside, which means if your going to be taking it on and off, you will be getting scratches especially around the edges and corners of the car. i got alot especially on the spoiler which i need to buff now. A cover with a microfiber cloth underside would be best.
