i remember because I was ....nevermind. Getting off topic. I'd garage this baby for the winter. If not, go get some winter tires and some concrete bags for the trunk. |

I haven't had a Camaro for several years :( but in my years I have owned 2 67 SS/RS's, 1 68 Z28, 1 78 Z28 and 1 80 Z28 and all of them were driven in the winter.
Put a good set of Snow tires on it, buy several bags of kitty litter to put in the trunk for weight (great for helping you get unstuck) and drive carefully. People have driven rear wheel drive cars in the winter for years, plus I believe the new Camaro's are coming with traction control so they should handle the slick roads and parking lots a lot better.

The only winter tires I've found for the SS are Pirelli's and even then you have to go 245/50/20 in the front to match tires.
You can look...but trust me I spent the better part of a day doing so already. Only ones I found that have tires that will match set. Expect to pay about $300 a tire |

It would be more economical to get 18" tires and cheaper wheels, that way you can just switch them when the weather gets bad and you don't have to worry about messing up your nice 20" rims. That is what I'm considering, and I think I'll forgo the tps to save money there as well. My only trouble is I don't know what the right tire size would be for an 18.

Just ordered Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow. (275/245)
I had these on my RWD TBSS and they're great! Tire Rack called me to say the 275's were on back order with no ETA. When I mentioned I saw runflats listed in the past, he dug around in the computer some more and found more coded "N0 Porsche XL" They're not runflats but they are exactly like the scorpions I ordered, just coded as OEM Porsche approved, Cayenne I'm guessing. Anyway, they're $2 cheaper and they're on the way. If yall want to go this route, get them fast because there's a few thousand people that are going to need them and not many of them are left. He had no lead time on the filling of back orders. (13 orders at the time of the call) Now, I just need a summer wheel set, CCW, Nutek, I don't know. I'll have the winter to decide. $1060 delivered |

I bought 20" Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60s on new rims from Tirerack - see this thread for details - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41966.
With the temps dropping for my early morning commute here in NJ I intended to take the Camaro to the Dealer Friday to get them mounted (Tirerack delivered straight to my Dealer who will store the Pirellis/RS rims for free) - only its now SNOWING in NW NJ. I post-poned till Monday... geez, snow on October 15...

I got my local Chevy dealer to match Tire Rack for Blizzak LM-25's (closeout model). I bought 18" heritage rims with sensors from a forum member here. Dealer also willing to match GM Parts Direct price on splash guards, and install them for me for $15 (!). All out the door, tires and splash guards with mounting, resetting tire pressure monitor system I'm looking at about $915. I think I did well.
