I have a friend with a highly modified WRX, 06, puts 436hp to the ground on his 106 octane race tune, before the n2o. He thinks I can get him in the 1/4, while he smokes me in the 1/8th. I don't think I'll get him even in the 1/4, lol.

Those cars, if done right and launched right, are a beast. They have no topend though, that's why the SS in OPs original post will reel in and beat the WRX stock for stock. Throw some money at both of them powertrain wise, and it gets even better!

They don't have that much more speed in the corners. Might feel like more in a smaller, lighter car but what you feel isn't necessarily the same as reality.

Its always a drivers race, IVe spanked $40K BMWs with my V6 3rd gen and it wasn't cause it was a faster car.

Totally different approaches with these two cars. As others have stated, STI has limited top end, will use its AWD to start off and launch better. Compare stock to stock only though....as with all cars mods change everything doesn't matter that it's "only minor mods" this and that - stock to stock LS3 much stronger engine. Gotta say I like the STI, well the old body style minus the wing, I think the only 4 banger that can actually sound good and throaty.

stock for stock camaro SHOULD win, but its a drivers race. but we all know there arent many stock stis running around. Turbo cars are sneaky, they can up the boost at any time or have a tune that will give the car a stock appearance but an extra 30-40whp, which will swing the odds in favor of sti. Also stis came with a center differential that when played with along with fuel cut deffenser will give it alot better top end. its always good to know the competition

I've owned a WRX and an STi.

Stock vs stock a well driven Camaro SS will easily beat an STi in a 1/4 mile drag race. But the key words are well driven.
But because the STi is AWD, it has a big advantage on the street where traction is limited. A well driven STi can launch hard and can beat most cars up to 80mph or so. But take away the STi's launch and its not very fast. Its only about as fast as a V6 Accord.

And if an STi and Camaro SS were side by side on the highway doing 60mph or so and they both went WOT, the SS would make an STi look slow.

I agree. On the street against an average driver in the SS, he'll probably have to reel the STi in. AWD allows for a lot more confidence and consistency on the street.

However, nobody should be racing their Camaros on the street. Take it to the track.

That's true, I don't street race cause it isn't any fun. Definitely ain't worth the chance of potentially getting caught and have your license pulled for a year either. But, I was just saying because there will be people who race on the street. I honestly don't see a problem with it if you are on a closed down road or something like that.

I will not debate street racing, in any form.

I wont get into the story but I will say stock for stock the Camaro SS is definitely faster in the 1/4 mile. They run high 13s in the quarter mile, compared to our low 13s.

I "saw" a LS3 race a new sti and the camaro took him on top end. The sti was ahead by a car or so until the end of 3rd gear, thats when the Camaro went ahead and ahead.
