In VA, front plates are required. There was no chance I was drilling my front bumper, but also no chance I was giving anyone any reason to pull me over (red car, fast, etc, are enough reasons). So I found a great no-drill option - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66670.

I haven't had one for about a year, but I figure it's just like speeding you may not get caught for a long time but you will eventually.

I'll be drilling and mounting the front plate bracket. I don't see it being an issue. I did it on my '94 Trans Am. It will stop the rocks from chipping the front. I change out the front fascia and repaint it about every 5 years on the Trans Am and will probably do this on the Camaro once its pitted enough. Zip ties would work but I won't be shelling out $100 for a plate holder. The police will definitely stop us and they don't usually left us off with a warning here. The plate bracket covers the holes in the bumper anyway. Just get a nice Camaro5 plate frame.

Two words foro you..

Probable cause, they may not stop you for this reason alone but it gives them an excuse to stop you to check out other stuff. just sayin'

I'm originally from L.I. and can't imagine driving there without a front plate. Now live in Ct where a front plate is the law but its not really enforced. I see one out of every 10-12 cars coming towards me without one.
No front plate for me.

I havent had one on my car either. Never been pulled over for it, as it hasnt really been strictly enforced. I havent heard of anyone being ticketed for it either here in Connecticut.

I live in a town with 2 big colleges so there are a lot of out of state cars, I'm hoping that that'll be my saving grace for not having a front plate.

Yeah I hear what you guys are saying... If I didn't put it on, I wouldn't complain if I got caught. I'm just saying, I can imagine parking in NYC or White Plains one night out on the town and the meter-hounds pouncing on it.

Even in Yonkers, where Thursday nights bring out a ton of ricers, modders, and racers... the cops patrol that one night and everyone is wise to drive exactly 30 MPH. I don't want any hassles. It seems like I'll be opening myself up to some if I omit the front plate in a strict region.

No front plate on mine, and I was never pulled over from the time I got it in July until I had to put it in the garage in November. Different towns will have different attitudes towards enforcing that law. My dealer said they never put the front plates on their Corvettes or Camaros and it's generally not a problem with Cedar Rapids cops. The most important input will be from people who drive the same streets you do!
