The abridged version of the story

Started with my very first car. It was a '76 Type LT. After owning three more Camaros the last one got away for the wrong reasons. And I had promised myself to replace it. Thirteen years later the 5th Gen is released. I scraped and scratched together the means to keep my promise to myself. Even sold my boat. That will be replaced as well. Just as soon as the Camaro is paid off.

It was worth the wait!

I never go to the dealer unless I am ready to buy. I do all my research on the internet and then I walk in and haggle. I hate that part. Anyhow I was driving to our monthly Air Force safety day ( mandatory ) and I drove by the dealer and saw a huge jacked up truck with chrome rims and the works. I put a note in my mind to check that out later in the day. At lunch I rolled up to the dealer and saw it was over 40k and about crapped myself. I have had my dodge intrepid for almost 10 years and I didn't know trucks cost that much now. As I left the lot with my tail between my legs I saw the yellow transformer camaro and I walked up to it just to see it upclose. What caught me again was the 38k sticker price. Thinking I was a poor broke Sgt and out of luck i checked the stickers on the row of camaros and when I walked past the grey one I said " please god let me be able to afford this one" the sticker was 29k and some change with shipping. Well I'll spare you the 3 hours of haggling but after a test drive and turning in my well worn trade in I rolled out the door getting the V-6 Rs with all the goodies in it for 25k plus tax. I thought that was a fair deal. I guess in the end what got me was after I left the lot on the test drive I romped on it a bit and could not beleive it was a v-6. The thing was faster than I expected. I did shoot two picture with my Iphone before I came back and did the circle jerk with the salesman. I looked at the pictures all through lunch and I knew in my heart it would be in my garage at the end of the day.

I enjoyed reading the other stories you guys wrote keep them coming.

I got enough money because my grandpa owns a local ace hardware and i was able to work there at a young age. When i turned 16 i started working for him full time. This job wasnt easy for me because i didnt get paid as much as regular employees and everyone expected alot more out of me then other employees. I worked hard for him and like a 50 cent raise every year.

I am also involved with the FFA and raised 3 pigs by myself which i was able to sell for about $3500 each. I finally got $25,000 and my parents helped me to buy this car which hasn't arrived yet.

I am lucky to be blessed with a wonderful and supportive family.

Holy shi#!! You got me at the pig part. That is awesome. I was always a city kid ( a long time ago ) and somehow when ever I hear farm stories it always makes me laugh. Not that I am disrespecting you at all. I just lived so far from anything with more than two legs when i see a cow on a trip I stop and say . Hey look a cow!. If I can get it to come to the fence I pet it. lol. Anyway.. fantastic story you busted your ass for that car and you deserve every once of fun you get out of it.

Awesome.

I'm 59 years young, and was diagnosed with brain cancer (GBM) in July, 2009. After surgery on 8/18/09 and returning to drive on Saturday, 10/31/09, I immediately went out and traded in my 2006 Corvette on Monday, 11/2/09 and ordered a 2010 2SS/RS, IOM. I drove it off the lot four days before Christmas. (My wife said if I was planning on being around to drive it, then by all means, trade in the Vette and enjoy the new Camaro. Thank you, Pat, my beautiful wife of 31 years.)

I tell everyone that I ordered Summit White but when I sat in it for the first time, the radiation turned it into Inferno Orange.

At least they didn't take out my humor-tumor, right?

Bill

Man these stories are fantastic. I wish you many happy years with your wife and your car. Good luck to you. Your joke was funny but I would have told everyone that it looks white to you and insist they are seeing the wrong color.

I flew home for R&R leave from afghanistan September 09 (got blown up on the day before I went home believe it or not)
Pic's of my truck.

I diden't have a car, and was saving to buy one. I was in the ALOC at BAF and someone brought up the camaro which I expected to be too expencive. We looked it up on GM's site. I was looking at spending arround 20K anyway.

ordered the 1LT paid $24,7 something after everything. It was delivered december. I diden't mind the wait because I had to go back over the pond.

It's not even registered yet, havent been home to drive it. I'll be ordering my purple heart plates, getting insurance, temp. plates, and registering it when I finally get home on the 16th.

Well, my dream is still not there yet so to speak. When I saw the Transformer movie I became very passionate of the camaro even though I saw it before as a concept car during the makings of the movie. After the second movie of “The Transformers” I was possessed by how the camaro’s upgrade looked. Ever since then my passion was to get one just like that “Bumble Bee.” But with two boys 9 & 10 years of age and one on the way at the time, It was a now or never situation and I just had to have one. I was aiming for the 2SS M6, but with the economical recession scare, my boys school expenses, mortgage and my wife 4 months pregnant I had to settle for the 2LT. Eventually it will be passed on to my first son when he reaches the proper age of responsibility and of course with out any question achieve his academics studies. But in the meantime I will keep dreaming for the Z28 Camaro to arrive.

Talking THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS, TOM!!!

Aww Tom, I am so touched that my little story would touch your life the way it did today...it was terrific meeting you and Monica, and I think we all 'hit it off' immediately!!!...

That's what this Camaro does to people!!!...we are all brought together by the love of the car...

Our little NY Group is special and I think it will be growing by 'leaps and bounds' this spring and summer as more people get their Camaros and the weather gets nicer...

My family and friends constantly tell me that I am a 'walking and talking Camaro commercial', and I should be on GM's payroll, since I probably have 'sold' quite a few Camaros by my enthusiasm for the car...

It is Christmas Day every single day for me since taking delivery of VIN 7085 last 5/19/09!!!...

I am glad I inspired you to tell your story to Camaro5 and I'm sorry I didn't get to read your PM sooner and be the very 1st post after yours....

Now, in honor of your heartwarming and touching story, I will do my 'world famous, for my special C5 friends only, smiley dance'...lol...
